The room was comfortable, clean and worked well for three people who were on a weekend visit. Although there was a small strip Mall down the street from the hotel, the area doesn't have a lot of activities so driving is required.

Staff was excellent with special kudos to Theresa, who handled the morning breakfast buffet and Cynthia, who was responsible for the evening social. They were both highly professional, continually replenishing the food and checking on the needs of the guests while maintaining a cheerful and helpful attitude.

Both buffets had a nice variety of food, especially considering the fact that it was complimentary.

If you don't want all the bells and whistles that come with a newer hotel, the Residence Inn Winston-Salem University Area should fit the needs of most travelers.

You honestly won't want to get up from the breakfast table -- and not because of the lavish spread (too many delicious items to even list, hot and cold). No, it's because you don't want to leave the warm and loving care of Theresa and the other Breakfast Lades (Yolanda, Precious and Cynthia). They are just fabulous, as is everything else about this well-run Residence Inn. Windows that open for a breeze, immaculate outdoor pool, friendly staffers everywhere you look. This property deserves every award out there. Thank you, Theresa! Thank you, Ciana (for the appreciated Platinum upgrade). We loved it!

While this motel will not overly impress when you approach it from the road, it has lots to offer overall. My king suite was roomy and well appointed. The pool, although not huge, was great and inviting (with chairs, towels and some shade). The courtyard (which includes the pool and a basketball/pickle ball court) is very delightful. And the free breakfast - which included scrambled eggs, and, separately, scramble egg whites, good oatmeal and toppings, an amazing veggie stir fry - was the BEST free breakfast I have ever seen anywhere (and I travel A LOT!). Finally, the staff were wonderful.

This is a very nice hotel. It is clean and the staff is very friendly. Yanni was sweet and attentive to our needs. The bed is comfortable. It is very quiet. The breakfast buffet is good. The ladies who service the breakfast area are very attentive. And it is free!

As a returning parent of a WFU student, the Residence Inn has become a respite from the chaos of move in and college life. The amenity that keeps us coming back is the breakfast service and array of fresh and healthy options at this hotel. Precious, Cynthia, Yolanda and Theresa exude warmth and class second to no hotel in the Winston Salem area. We look forward to visiting again soon!
Thank you beautiful breakfast ladies ;)
