My girlfriend attended a conference in Albena and booked a double room here. And that was our 3rd visit in Bulgaria and the 2nd awful journey there.

1. On arrival, "the available parking" was completely full, even the pathways have been used as parking. So we've done a makeshift, letting the car under some trees, at about 10' walk.

2. "You don't need to print it, just go to the reception with the booking number..." was written in the reservation form. But the reception asked for the printed paper which of course we haven't got.

3. "We sorry, we have no rooms you want" was the refrain of the receptionist and the hotel manager for about an hour, even if a superior double room was booked and a demand for confirmation has been done on the reservation form online." The point is they still were having online the offer for the ordered room at the moment... So, we saw 2 rooms in the same hotel and went to other fully booked and finally we accepted a bizarre one with a 80 cm wide bed, with another 100 cm wide bed (it was supposed to be considered double?), and a sort of sofa.

4. Of course, the hotel withdrawn the money for our staying there even before we arrived but it last until now (10 days later) to deliver a bill or any proof of our payment. :(

5. The interaction with the hotel manager was really though: she was trying to prove us we are wrong and that's our vault we choose their hotel. It could be funny, because of her small office with peanuts packs, soda and towels in the floor.

6. No real interest for the customer, that's really important. The so kind porter disappeared immediately when we asked for the manager :) and the reception personnel trying to show us they really have no rooms, not only a little wish or will to make our stay pleasant! Maybe another attitude would change our experience and this feedback.

7. I still try to understand the Bulgarian hotels ranking system. As you may see in some photos attached (just a few, not so relevant), the room deserves at most 3, even 2 stars are appropriated to the reality: firm mattress, hone floor with no carpet, torn curtain, a heavy and filthy smell coming from the wardrobe... The bathroom (pretty nice and decent, compared with the other amenities) and the AC are the only 4 stars issues inside.

8. Frequent in Albena (and frightened too) are the hotels where the rooms have an outdoor entrance. Not only anyone can pass the door but the bathrooms have a window which allows anyone to enter the room with a little effort (in case you let it opened). Exactly like a regular motel, not at all safe and suitable for a nice 4 star hotel.

9. Some may consider all-inclusive a hit: you may eat as much you can, doesn't matter your taste (if you have one). As long you pay for it, you may eat processed and reprocessed food from the previous day(s). Cookies and cakes have absolutely no flavor. Bulgarian farmers produce such great vegetables and fruit but those from the restaurant are practically uneatable and/or undrinkable (a lot of soda and poor flavor, maybe excepting the breakfast ones). As you may already suppose, almost the most customers are completely delighted of the menu and found it funny to have 2 or 3 plates "with peak" on the table.

10. FYI excepting Nomad, the restaurants in the area are not a good option. The dishes are expensive and ordinarily... All Inclusive hotels make the things difficult and I advise you for a some kilometers trip to the North; Balchik has got some great restaurants and only thinking of them makes me dreaming.

11. I'm not sure the hotel has a Wi-Fi connection. It seems to be 2 hotspot networks all around Albena, password protected but malfunctioning (= not working at all on our level, impossible to reach or to connect even you got the user and the key).

12. The restaurant personnel it seems to be polite. I dislike the manner they pick-up the plates in your absence, before you finish and signalizing it as the manners say. I saw the hotel personnel around and they changed the towels fortunately but nothing more.

13. No opinion about the hotel beach, too. I noticed there is plenty of space for the beach-chairs or blankets, the area is peaceful and comfortable but I didn't access the services.

Room tip: Choose another hotel, place, country,,,

it supposed to be a 4* hotel, but is not more than 3* in any case. Rooms are small with old, and in some cases, damaged furniture; crappy small TV with very few channels. No wi-fi in the rooms - you need to go down at Reception to get a connection. No designated parking area for the hotel.
Overall the place is overpriced and not worth the money they are asking for. This however is valid for the entire resort - Albena.
I wouldn't go back and wouldn't recommend it.

Room tip: If you work hard for your money and would like to spend it properly - stay away from Albena!

Great vacation, great hotel! Excellent location- 5 mins from the beach and 1 min from the city centre. Variety of meals-all of them very tasty! The only minus was the room- too small compared to other hotels.
