Stayed for 5 days all inclusive in the 5 star wing. Really clean hotel. Rooms were big and clean. Bathroom was great but the shower area was kinda moldy. Plenty of food, enough selection and it was fresh. Great staff except for one receptionist. Room service came every day. Good pools. Awesome eating terrace.Close enough to the lovely beach ( there were stairs that went down to the promenade street right by the beach) and the hotel had shuttles. We had to pay for the chaiselongues but there were areas for towels too. Close enough to the lively center. Don't be surprised to pay for toilets there (.50leva) which is cheaap. 5 minute walk to the waterpark. I'm going back to this hotel for sure.

My girlfriend and i was there for 3 nights and i have to tell you all that this was a terrible experience .
the food tasteless and off , the bad in the room falls in like a belly.
the stuff wasn't so nice to us, and you have to deposit money to get towels in the pool , somthing like 8$ each one.
they had lousy gym.
i wouldn't recommend to anyone to go there , and i will definitely won't go there again.

We've stayed at Helios hotel between 13/08/2009 - 20/08/2009 half board. We are very disappointed with the hotel. It is suppose to be a 4-5 star hotel but it is more likely a 2 star hotel. The housekeeper did not come into our room for 2 days!! The glasses in our room were unchanged for the whole week. The carpet in the room was really dirty. One day the housekeeper did not leave any towels and we called the reception again but nobody came. We had to go and find the housekeeper ourselves and ask her for towels. The same with toiletpaper. The food was really awful. Some of the food served was the same for 3 days!!! It was not enough for all the guests and we had to wait for 15 minutes for refill. We were served food from the previous night as breakfast!!! And when we complained about this they were very rude with us. As for dessert they had biscuits!!! and cake from breakfast again!!!

I was staying at the 5 star section.

The hotel is on the hill but about 10 minutes from the promenade and also there is a shuttle from the hotel to the beach and back.

The food wasn't with the best variety but it was tasty.

The staff was helpfull when needed.

The rooms where clean and quite good.

There are 3 pools and a spa (not cheap).

During the day there is free activities for children and adults.

The total experience was good.

We stayed at the Helios Spa & Resort (4*) in July 2009, with 2 young children (8 & 11), and before going was concerned when reading the reviews on here but it's like all these other people stayed at a different hotel !!! Don't confuse the Helios Spa with Helios Park, as I think there's quite a difference!!!

The hotel was great...the location was away from the main bars on the front but close enough to walk to the beach easily, then there was the hotel train you could catch to take you down there or use the steps down to the main area...yes there are approx 100 steps, but can't believe the people who moan about a few steps...

We went all inclusive, as it's much easier with kids and found it great...

breakfast (7-10) consisted of the usual selection of salads/cheeses/meats, bacon/sausage/tomato/eggs (fried/scrambled/boiled/omlette made to order), toast/fresh bread baked in the oven there/croissants, fruit (approx 3-5 different types at any one time), yogurt/fruit/jams...

lunch (12.30-2.30) consisted of a different selection each day along with the usual salads/meats etc

dinner (6-9) again consisted of choice of 2 soups, selection of hot plate food which varied each day, salads & a number of mixed salads, ice creams (6 flavours) and mini cake/pastry desserts

...there was something we all liked each day with lots of choice, and believe me the kids are quite fussy! I agree there was some food that came out one day that was then maybe made into something the next, but do people expect them to just throw food away, at home we'd do exactly the same and it was all excellent & very tasty, and it didn't happen each day anyway...

The all inclusive arrangement was a little strange, as not all the bars were part of it, never had that before, but we soon worked out which was & wasn't included so no problems there and you could have beers/red & white wines/tea/coffee/hot choc/soft drinks/liquers etc, no cocktails, but not a problem to make your own up with the seletion they had!

Book any trips you have locally as you save quite a bit than doing it through the rep e.g. we did the jeep safari trip which was 55lev against 85lev from the rep, and the kids were half price in the town which you didn't get through the rep, so we saved 107lev (approx £50) which is quite a lot on one trip alone...

The water park is literally a few mins walk from the hotel (or a short cut from the tennis court) which was a great day out, it's not a huge one, but it's the only one they have in the whole of Bulgaria and what they did have kept us amused for the day...the entry forkids is done on height, and at first we were a bit annoyed that the youngest (8yrs) was classed as an adult but if he'd have been a child it would have been very restrictive with what he could have gone on, and as he's the bravest of us all he'd have been quite upset!

The beach was great fun for the kids, but as per a previous posting the whole beach is paid, and is sectioned off so you have to hire a parasol/sunbeds to use it, this we thought was a cheek, however we just set-up infront of the line, which in turn was better for the kids playing with the sand and spending the rest of the time in the sea, but it's a bit of a pain as it does get very busy...

The entertainment program in the hotel was good fun, there were the usual activities during the day (darts/water volleyball/water polo/aerobics etc) where members of theanimation team would come round to see if you'd like to join in, but never pestered you to and respected if you said no. the entertainment at night was outside round the pool which was a great setting, this finished at 10pm, which was perfect timing for the kids, and there were other bits that went on in the night bar, so it catered for both families & those who stayed up later...

All in all it was a great week, the hotel was great and would go back there and recommend it to anyone else. I'd be happy to answer any queries direct if you need more info, conscious about writinga novel on here!
