A pleasant stopover

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed May 19, 2019
We stayed here for two nights on our trip from Vancouver to Calgary. Our room was basic, but roomy, clean and comfortable. It did include a fridge and microwave oven. Although situated just off the highway, it was surprisingly peaceful and quiet. There are several good places to grab a coffee, lunch or dinner in town. And a number of sights to be seen too, including a waterfall within easy walking distance of the motel.

I stayed at the CountryInn for a night while on our way back to Vancouver. It’s my birthday trip and I am glad that we had chosen to stay at Chase as it’s a quiet little town with nice people around. The Operator of the Inn is a nice guy who is also very customer oriented. The room is spacious, clean and nicely decorated. The little Chinese restaurant is highly recommended as it carries the most authentic Hong Kong style “Chow Mee” - fried noodle and lots of creative dishes as well. I would definitely go again if I ever visited Chase in the future. By the way, a two thumbs up for their young, active and cheerful PR- Cookie the pup.

Thank you so much for staying with us and you gave us very nice conversations in Hong Kong style Cantonese we haven’t had for a long time. Hope you are happy and healthy, and enjoy lives.

A warm regards from Yuki, Cookie and Eric.

Stayed here for a night on our way home. Seemed nice enough. The 2 is purely due to the nice man running it. The room however was the reason we gave a low score. I am fine with it being dated and old feeling. What I have a problem with is killing roughly 30 bugs crawling all over the ceiling. If it wasn't late I would have asked for a refund and left. The air conditioner is very loud as well. Not a good place to feel comfortable sleeping in.

Thanks Justin for your telling us the problems. I tested the room AC and it is very noisy (some mechanical noise with the fan). That AC was replaced in 2017 together with another 5 rooms. This year we will replaced 8 rooms. Then the AC upgrade project is finished. We will fix the noise.

The bugs are the box-elder bug (or generally called stink bug locally) which are very common in this area and especially active in the summer up to September or early October. It is reported that this box-elder is harmless to human, nor biting people . They like to sneak into houses when there are cracks or holes. A lot of buildings / properties in this area are likely infested by such kind of bugs no matter how clean or how up-scale they are. I checked the rooms and seems like your room has abnormally more box-elders. Other rooms just found a few which possibly the room when guests keep the doors opened. We will try to find out the paths that box-elders entering this room.

Once again apologize for the problems happened on you.

A perfect place to stop on our way through to Calgary from Sechelt, BC. It's close to the highway but the noise is not a problem. Train noise is faint as well. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed (Tuesday and Wednesday) when we were there because it has good reviews. The owners are lovely and the rooms are super clean. The beds were very comfortable and the shower was good as well. Well done!

We were in Chase for a Nifty Fifty Bonspiel. Staying at the Chase Country Inn was very convenient, a 10 minute walk from the hotel to the rink. Easy walk to the Main Street of town and restaurants. Monkok restaurant at the hotel was excellent and convenient. Breakfast was provided in morning, with eggs, toast, fruit, juice and coffee. Eric and Yuki were very gracious hosts. Food was excellent and prepared to order. The treasure soup was enough to serve 4 and very good with prawns and scallop, vegetables. Thank you Eric and Yuki for your hospitality.

Room tip: The room with the full kitchen was very roomy and could fit 4 people very well.

Its a small town motel and looks like it. The service we received was amazing, the owner let us check in early to get ready for a wedding. We checked into a spotless room and were pleasantly surprised. Breakfast was included from 7-9 (toast, cereal, muffins, hard boiled eggs)
We would stay here again forsure.

Thank Jodie for staying with us. As this is a belated response, we have further improved our dining offers since September/October 2017 when we just took back the restaruant. The breakfast is now a major thing to our guests during May to October. Not just a continental breakfast, hot breakfast items added during summer months. Our Chinese supper is gaining popular among our motel guests as well as local residents. Recently (since mid June) we have added Japanese Lunch hosted by Japanese Chef Jesse Nonaka. Come to Chase to see us.
