Wonderful Experience

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed May 22, 2022
We go there once a year to visit family, always have a great time there, clean rooms and the best part is the food!! Best food I’ve had, and I am a bit of a picky eater. Feels very comfortable there and we always have a great time! I would definitely recommend!

Easter weekend, I had friends visiting from Alberta and recommended Quaaout as it is close to Chase and having eaten there before, I thought it was a lovely hotel.

HOWEVER ... turns out staying there for my friends wasn't so lovely.

The hotel charged $100 a night damage deposit... so their three day stay was over $900 (yes, I know the deposit was refunded, but $100 PER NIGHT??)

And that was just the first issue... there was absolutely NO daily room cleaning/tidying -- i.e. no garbage removal, replenishing of the two K-cups initially provided for the in room coffee, no fresh towels, no bed making, nothing -- for the entire stay. Thank heavens they were only there for three nights or the overflowing garbage would have probably driven them out of the room.

Could they have called the desk each time they needed something? Yes. Does anyone want to have to constantly be doing that (for $200 a night) NO.

Then they tried to eat in the dining room. No such luck. To be fair, they were told to make reservations, but they assumed that was for lunch or dinner... nope. They tried to get a coffee and some toast for breakfast on their last morning and were told the next available table was after 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon. The restaurant was two-thirds empty! And even if the tables were all reserved by people who would presumably arrive in the next five minutes, why on earth wouldn't they set aside a small number of tables for their paying guests?????

Advertising that your hotel has in room amenities like coffee or onsite dining is really misleading if you can't get into the dining room or you have to call each time you need a K-cup, towel or roll of toilet paper.

My friends won't stay there again... and I will never again recommend it to visitors or anyone else who asks. I am embarrassed to have done so in the first place. What a disaster.

Room tip: Here's my helpful tip -- Please just don't stay here -- choose someplace else

Quaaout Lodge is a beautifully situated resort at the end of Little Shuswap Lake. Our room was comfortable and well appointed with a balcony view over the beach.
The staff was friendly and efficient and the facilities including the hot tub and pool were clean and inviting. We were particularly impressed by the lodge restaurant which serves very high quality locally sourced food. We particularly enjoyed the shared charcuterie board which featured locally cured meats, artisan cheese and
delicious house fermented pickles. The wine list features reasonably priced BC wines and a good variety of BC craft beers. All in all we had a very enjoyable stay.

Loved our visit. Stayed in a jacuzzi room. Large, clean, lovely views. Food was wonderful at the restaurant. The prize for this resort is very affordable for what you get. We went for a walk along the lake and enjoyed the sun set. We will definitely be back!

Recently stayed here with my wife, the location was beautiful, the room was really nice and very clean, the bed was very comfortable and we had a view of the lake from a balcony in our room. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. My wife went to the spa and had a massage and said it was great. We also ate at the restaurant for dinner which was lovely and then in the morning we took part in the complimentary smudge ceremony, all of which just really made this stay a great night away and very relaxing and we’d definitely recommend staying here!

We stayed at this resort November 26-28, 2021
We went to celebrate a birthday
Elevator did not work. Long walk in and down stairs carrying suitcases etc
Coffee machine did not work. They are using clear mugs and the housekeeping staff came and put black tape over the sensor eye to make it work. If they know this why not change the mugs or during COVID especially and even use disposable mugs
Ice bucket the bottom fell out of
The rooms were extremely plain and poor amenities. One set of towels yet no room service, not even a closet just a bar on the wall to hang stuff
We booked the deluxe king suite and our friends had a regular king room. We could not tell the difference although they claim it’s a bigger room if so it is very marginal. We paid $209 before taxes and our friends room was $157 after taxes. The only difference we could see was an extremely small round coffee table. I have talked to the manager on duty who refunded $25 per night as we were charged for two pets when we only had one. I have left a message to discuss this with the general manager but have not heard from him

I must say the staff was very friendly and the two dinners we had in the restaurant were very good although it is a difficult menu and limited items.
