Easter weekend, I had friends visiting from Alberta and recommended Quaaout as it is close to Chase and having eaten there before, I thought it was a lovely hotel.
HOWEVER ... turns out staying there for my friends wasn't so lovely.
The hotel charged $100 a night damage deposit... so their three day stay was over $900 (yes, I know the deposit was refunded, but $100 PER NIGHT??)
And that was just the first issue... there was absolutely NO daily room cleaning/tidying -- i.e. no garbage removal, replenishing of the two K-cups initially provided for the in room coffee, no fresh towels, no bed making, nothing -- for the entire stay. Thank heavens they were only there for three nights or the overflowing garbage would have probably driven them out of the room.
Could they have called the desk each time they needed something? Yes. Does anyone want to have to constantly be doing that (for $200 a night) NO.
Then they tried to eat in the dining room. No such luck. To be fair, they were told to make reservations, but they assumed that was for lunch or dinner... nope. They tried to get a coffee and some toast for breakfast on their last morning and were told the next available table was after 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon. The restaurant was two-thirds empty! And even if the tables were all reserved by people who would presumably arrive in the next five minutes, why on earth wouldn't they set aside a small number of tables for their paying guests?????
Advertising that your hotel has in room amenities like coffee or onsite dining is really misleading if you can't get into the dining room or you have to call each time you need a K-cup, towel or roll of toilet paper.
My friends won't stay there again... and I will never again recommend it to visitors or anyone else who asks. I am embarrassed to have done so in the first place. What a disaster.
