While visiting Northern BC we stopped in to the WAC Bennett Dam. This was very interesting and informative experience. The natural scenery is incredible. The Dam is massive! The Visitor Centre is small but contains an interactive display of the hydroelectric process. It provides a platform for the First Nations People to explain their concerns about the dam. It also explains the impact the building of the dam had on the the wildlife and the environment. The tour of the inner workings of the dam itself was amazing! The tour guide explained almost every question we had prior to us asking. Traveling so far inside the operating dam was an experience. You could sense the enormous power of the water. Outside we drove over the top of the Dam itself which was sensational. The minimal cost was definitely worth it. We had a dam fine time!!
This was a very informative tour that takes you 500 meters underground into the bowels of the Dam. It is an engineering marvel when you see first hand all of the guts of how electricity is created. The venue and tour are excellent and cheap! Well done BC Hydro, I also admire how you have predominately displayed the affect of this project on the neighbouring first nations.
Very interesting visitor center and tour. Also perfect sport for picnic. It’s very cooling getting into the dam. Interpretative Center did a very respectable job to show the way of life before the Dam and impact on aboriginal society in the valley. Hope next time the road in top of the dam is open to guests for a drive over! Basic lunch available in the Canteen. play area was also ok.
First off, I didn’t do the tour how ever next time I’d like to do it. We did go through out the visitor centre and it is very interesting. It was my first time to a Dam.
I was here with my husband as he had a repair to attend to. It was super interesting to see the dam.
Good tour. Very knowledgable and friendly tour guide. It was the second last day before the tourist centre closed for the season. Driving across the dam is a must.
