Take the tour - it's worth the time and gives a really good sense of the people of the area. It's a very respectful display. You might be lucky enough to see a carving class in the lobby or take part in a traditional craft as a drop in.

Beautiful museum and for us, a unique experience having someone touch base with you every 10 minutes or so to see if you had questions. They had a kiosk which also explained things in detail so you wouldn’t necessarily be reading about them while looking at them. Really good documentation of the amazing history of the Nisga’a people and their recent legal successes.

We, 29 volunteers of the Museum of Anthropology visited the Nisga`a museum. We had a guided tour and attended a wild medicine workshop. What a beautiful tour. The curator and staff and students shared their Nisga`a traditions and history with us. What a treat. The icing of the cake was a catered lunch in the lobby of the museum- Indigenous food e.g. smoked salmon, halibut, rice with seaweed etc. Excellent!
A must see place!

If you are interested in the culture of the First Nations Peoples in the Nass Valley BC then this museum is a must see. You come off of Hwy 16 in Terrace and head up Hwy the Nisga'a Hwy. Along this route you will find many interesting communities, and this wonderful museum which many people miss. It is very very well laid out and full of beautiful artifacts and insights into the lives of the people in this area. If you are interested in Indigenous culture then this has to be on your list.
