Came here late one night in April. Was raining outside, and after driving up a loooong hill this place was a beautiful surprise. The lodge is very welcoming, the food is amazing, supercomfortable rooms. You really get to relax at this place, especially with the awesome hot tub outdoor space and common reading/eating area.

Thanks Kristoffer! It took us six years to find a property which really felt like it was away from it all and where you could not see any other signs of civilization but was still within two hours of Victoria or Nanaimo. We love Port Renfrew and enjoy sharing what the area has to offer. Many are now referring to Port Renfrew as the" Tall Tree Capital of Canada" as we have some of the largest and oldest trees in Canada and the World.

We stayed there over Easter weekend. It was fantastic. We wanted a quiet place to go and relax. Escaping the busy city life and noise we were happy to let go and breath in the Tatoosh Yurt. At night instead of traffic and sirens we heard frogs and the light pitter patter of rain. The bed was comfortable and yurt very warm (even though the temperature outside was chilly). Located on top of a ridge our view was unreal. Our Yurt overlooked the ocean inlet. The owners are both chefs and offer a set three course meal to their guests. The best food in town from what we experienced and were also told by some locals. Reserve ahead of time because apparently seating is limited. They dot sell wine but you are able to bring your own wine. It was so nice being able to enjoy a fantastic dinner, watch the sunset and then simply walk our full belly's back to the Yurt. Other dinning options in Port Renfrew are more fish and chips and burger places..plus you have to drive to them. Breakfast is also included in the stay.
The yurt was clean and the bed is made up with crisp white sheets that sandwich the comforter like hotels do. So refreshing to see.
We wil be back again very soon. Thank you for our stay. We are spreading the word about Soule Creek Lodge!!

I talked my wife into spending our 40th anniversary in the Yurt of the Setting Sun. Initially, she was having trouble sleeping as torrential rain - probably 300 mm. in 48 hours - pounded on the roof 20 hours a day but soon fell in love with it. The food at the Lodge is exceptional both in terms of quality and presentation and one can share a table with interesting guests from exotic places like Vienna and Sherwood Park, Alberta. We visited downtown Port Renfrew and took the road to Cowichan Lake/Duncan on the way home to Sidney. Had a terrific two-day stay and look forward to another visit in the near future. Tim and Jon and staff operate a terrific resort that is for the adventurous who are able to survive a couple of days with reality TV, Twitter, Facebook, etc, although Wi Fi is available in the Lodge. The beds are incredibly comfortable and my wife is the original Princess and the Pea kind of gal. The yurt is not camping as you may have thought. The bathroom and shower and amenities are great with deck chairs, chesterfield, night tables, lamps etc. Our yurt also had a Murphy bed.

Room Tip: The yurts are fascinating. The view is amazing.

My family enjoyed a 3 night stay at Soule Creek Lodge in June 2011. We arrived at night after a long drive on the backroads of Vancouver Island. We missed the sign to the Lodge one time and after navigating a fairly steep and bumpy ride, we arrived and were greeted by the staff of Soule Creek Lodge. The rooms are dated, but clean and quite comfortable. Each room has different style and feel, as it is built in an old house. We didn't make our reservation early enough to get a yurt, unfortunately. The grounds are beautiful and include incredible views of sunset and an outdoor hot-tub that was very well maintained. The views are spectacular.

Soule Creek Lodge is run by two chefs. Breakfast to order is included each morning and was a great way to start the day. Choices included fresh pancakes, french toast, bacon, sausage, and any style eggs. You have the option of paying extra for dinner (seating is limited). We chose this option once and were very glad that we did. The food was excellent, but it was really the experience that made it for us. We met some really interesting and fun people that made it a very special experience. Lunch is not served on site, but they will pack a lunch to go for an extra price.

The Lodge is located a short drive from the area's attractions, making it a great option for hikers.

Room Tip: They have rooms for 2 and 4 people in the main building and yurts on the premises. Make a reservation early to get a 4 person room or a yurt.

I'm glad you had an enjoyable stay. I would disagree with your statement about the rooms being dated. All of our units have been updated recently . As a wilderness lodge we are not trying to be "Uber Modern" but rather warm and comfortable, and furniture that one could say is dated , much of it is 100 years old which our family has aquired at country auctions. The house itself is a Classic West Coast Lindal Cedar Home design that is still being used today and was built out of local cedar about 20 years ago and we hope it will stand the test of time another 20 years. Happy travels, SCL.
