Getting up to the lodge is not difficult in dry weather. We saw that regular cars made it up ok; don’t know if it’s harder in rainy weather without AWD. Though unpaved, the road was evenly laid out.

The yurts caught our attention but they were all booked up for the dates we'd plan for, so we reserved the cabin next to the Yurt of the Setting Sun. Nice and easy welcome from one of the brothers. Both are nice, helpful guys who take considerate care of guests. Our cabin was spacious, homey, comfortable, and clean.

The bed was not a queen but rather a double (we think) and was a bit softer than we like but it's probably perfectly suited to others. Great bedding and good linen. The bathroom had a curtained, stand-up shower; water pressure was fine. They're environmentally conscious, and so offered shampoo and conditioner from those pump-containers attached to the wall. The bathroom window only let in light but didn't open so there was no ventilation and it could get a little musty in the bathroom unless you keep the fan on or open the sliding door to the cabin, both of which we did.

The hot breakfast was ample, fresh, and good with the cutest little 1-ounce shot smoothie. If you like breakfast, you'll love the dinners, which was booked full one evening. If you have more than two people in your room, or in case others do, and you want the best food in Port Renfrew, make sure you reserve a spot when you book your room as seating is limited. The dinners (which look and taste even better than the pictures on their website) were again super fresh, delicious, plentiful, and well thought-out/prepared. We were full and couldn't eat another bite after each dinner. Portions were perfect. Freshest, BEST salmon we've ever had in the world! Fresh salad. Sumptuous desserts. One couple skipped a night between dinners and we thought that was a good idea if you're staying three nights or more for variation. Understand that they would want to use the ingredients when they are freshest, so if they have a very big fish caught that day in the waters below, they may use it two nights in a row with other accompaniments and ingredients/sauces. We also liked that they allowed us to bring our own beer/wine of our own choosing. It was so relaxing to be able to both enjoy drinks with dinner and amble back to our cozy cabin.

Since dinner wrapped up pretty early, we were going to use the hot tub one night but it was not usable. Next time, if the individual units are full, we would book the lodge room upstairs with the big, walk out deck as that must have an amazing view as well.

Thank you for your review. You mentioned the road maybe tricky in rain. Its actually better when wet as it gets packed down. Also the bed is in fact a queen. It may have looked like a double with the thick duvet and linens which seem to round the bed out a little on the corners. As for the hot tub, I changed the water for fresh that morning and it just did not get back up to temperature in time. Sorry about that.

Just got home from Soule Creek Lodge (our second stay) and already want to book our next visit. The yurts are magical — luxurious, while keeping you closer to nature than a regular hotel room. You can lie in bed and stargaze at night, enjoy the panoramic views from your private deck during the day and, most importantly, eat some truly amazing food. The three-course dinner features the freshest seafood you'll ever taste in your life and the breakfast goes well beyond expectations (cinnamon raisin French toast, blueberry pancakes, etc.)
While you're in the area, be sure to spend some time exploring Botanical Beach and the amazing ancient trees of Avatar Grove.

Room Tip: If you want a unique experience, go for a yurt. But expect to hear noises outside, just as you would if you were sleeping in a tent. The big difference is you're wrapped up in a comfy queen-size bed.

We stayed one night in the Tanglewood Cabin and enjoyed the stay. Arduous 2 km gravel road to get to the b&b but worth it. Breakfast was tasty and filling and we learned from another couple who stayed there for dinner that the meal was exquisite. They also showed us the Tatoosh yurt they stayed in and it was incredible. Next time we will reserve it.

The Soule Creek Lodge is fantastic! If you happen to stay in a jurt. For this, you need to book in advance! If not, you will stay in the main building and that is wooden house with very thin walls. You can try to be as quiet as possible, but you will nonetheless being heard by your neighbours: Snoring, walking, toilet flushing, talking... If you are sensible to this, stay in a jurt.

The Lodge is located on a hill top. It takes 2 KM on a gravel road to reach it. The sight from the top over the ocean is breathtaking!

The owners are very friendly and helpful with tips and recommendations and they cook ... Wow! Eating there is a wonderful experience! Fresh Fish, directly from the hook into the pan.
Breakfast is great too!

Port Renfrew is small but it has so much to offer! And since it is a starting point to the Pacific Rim and the Juan de Fuca Trail, the people coming to Port Renfrew are more on the hiking than on the tourist with flipflops side. This is a nice change and you will have interesting conversations in the pubs and restaurants.

Bring time with you, if you come to Port Renfrew. And reserve a jurt at the Soule Creek Lodge.

Thanks for the kind words Stephan and sorry your sleep was not as peaceful as one might hope. It sounds like you were in one of the only two rooms which share a wall (the other two rooms in the lodge have no shared walls and two entry doors). The two which do we have done everything we can to minimize sound travel by adding an extra sound proofing layer of drywall mounted on residence absorbing bars and two extra layers to the ceiling (which is now over 1 ft thick). Being located in an area which is dead quite at night tends to amplify all other noises which is also why we turn away many reservations which might compromise that serenity, like those fishing or attending weddings in town which result in guests leaving early or coming in very late. Few accommodations providers go to the lengths we do trying to insure a peaceful stay as commented on in many other reviews. We cannot however screen for heavy snorers or those using the bathroom in the middle of the night. We can offer recommendations for the quietest unit we have to those sensitive to sound, which would in fact be a room in the lodge. Thanks again, Jon.

Had an absolutely wonderful stay at Soule Creek Lodge. The rooms are beautiful and very clean. The level of service is excellent - courteous and professional. I was very impressed with the food as well - breakfasts were great! Make sure to stay at least one night for dinner. The level of cuisine by these internationally-trained chefs is second to none! Thanks for a great stay Tim and Jon!
