After resading all the terribly reviews, I was very skeptical about booking this place but I just had to because it was available. I was planning to "make do" with it but my experience was beyond awesome.
The front desk staff were awesome and very helpful, the housekeeping person was very nice. The room was clean, tidy, with a gorgeous view.
The A/C was noisy when it comes on intermittently but I slept through it.
I will stay here again on my next visit.
My husband and I were moving to Ketchikan and needed a place to stay on the way. We have two medium sized dogs and the Capri Motor Inn was affordable and pet friendly. We weren’t expecting much but we were pleasently surprised when we arrived. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, and the place was very clean. Our room was just perfect, it was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The blinds were dark and kept the light out so we could sleep in. We were close to town and had many of things to do including restaurants, bars and even found a hiking trail for the pups. We will most definitely come back and stay again in the near future!
The staff are friendly and professional. It is an older place but the room I had was clean and quiet and newly renovated with new everything, bed, furniture, fridge, microwave, cable tv, and a Keurig coffee maker. Plus, it has a great location on the highway with lots of restaurants nearby. I travel quit a bit and really enjoy staying here.
Front was desk very friendly. Lobby tidy but dirty. The two chairs were so dirty we cringed when we saw them & wondered what we were getting into. Beds were very comfy & clean, room was nice & quiet except the heat comes from a wall heater that was SO loud ALL night! Room was overall clean but very old & dated. Sign outside hotel said renovated, I wonder when that was done? Price was higher than it should be, $105 + tax for low season! Too much for the low quality. Felt a bit ripped off. No breakfast included either. Sad.
In the midst of forest fire season it can be difficult to find a place in Smithers. That was our issue as we drove through the area last week. With some trepidation we found ourselves having to book at a "motor inn" and the Capri had room for us and our little dog.
It was actually comfortable and we could get the room nice and cool. It was clean. There were no smells of smoke (any type) and although the comforters were well worn and thin, we were afforded a good night's sleep.
Our only issue was around the price paid. We never book through a third party when we can call the hotel and book directly, but we do expect to have them honor the pricing that we would pay if we booked through a third party. The Capri didn't do that, and even after talking to them during the booking process, with them knowing that we were bringing along our 10 lb dog, they added an extra $20 on to the quoted price when we arrived. All in all, assuming consistent pet charge add-on, they charged us about $30 CAD more than what they were offering online. This is unacceptable.
While the sleep was good, The experience was irritating.
