Description: We focus on organic , fresh and local cuisine.. nothing processed. We have vegetarian choices like butternut squash , sweet potato with fresh ginger, roasted root vegetable, wild mushroom and others, salad made with arugula and kale, stir fry's, pastas, etc. We serve everything from local (mussels ,snow crab, lobster, cod fish, scallops, shrimp, halibut, mackerel, capelin, calamari, etc) .Local lamb, Fresh chicken with bone in and skin on., grade A tenderloin beef, pork and so many more choices. We use the local berries that ground in the area for the desserts. We only open from Late May until Mid September because that is when the food we serve is Fresh and available. We prefer not to open after later because it would compromise the quality of what we are trying to achieve and prefer not to serve over process chemically altered food.

“Wonderful food and service”

We had spent time at the Viking Village at Lanse Aux MEadows and enjoyed our lunch special at the Norsemand Resturant. They also have an Art Gallery with local paintings and handicrafts.

“What a SCOFF!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 November 2012

Best feed after a day on the barrens. Just came from L'anse aux Meadows..it was windy..but that is nothing new. Fish and Brewis - fabulous and portion size was excellant based on cost of overall meal. Homemade pies with ice cream - partridgeberry pie with cake crust..just like my nanny Coates used to make us over in Cook's Harbour.

“Pleasant lunch.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 September 2012

My friend and I stopped for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We were the only people there, and had a lovely visit with the friendly waitress as well. It was a very nice, but it would have been nice to have been there in the evening for a more elaborate meal, and entertainment by Wade Hillier who is there often. We purchased Wade's CD, and wish we could have heard him in person. The gift shop is very nice and has reasonable prices. The view of the harbour is lovely as well, and there is outdoor seating, if the weather is nice.

“Wonderful food, good times”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 September 2012

We had a wonderful meal seated by the window watching the sunset while a local interpreter/singer/songwriter entertained patrons with rousing Newfoundland songs. The waitress was very attentive and we thought the food was excellent. In fact it was the best meal we had in Nfld other than a more expensive one in St Johns. We ended up meeting the owner and being invited by other locals to come and visit their home. What hospitality! Also loved the local art in the place and took home a whale bone polar bear.

“Best restaurant in this Area”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 September 2012

The Norseman had a great reputation and we were not disappointed. There was a bearded guitar-playing singer who made the evening even more enjoyable. The chef was creative and knew his stuff. All in all, a great evening
