Description: Two Whales is a small, family run, independent coffee shop and restaurant overlooking Robin Hood Bay in the small township of Port Rexton on the Bonavista Peninsula. This is our 10th season in business and our reputation grows every year. According to many of our customers we serve the best espresso coffees on the island - we feel it is a combination of great beans (from Jumping Bean in St John's), our espresso machine, skill, our well water and a bit of Two Whales magic! We serve a range of premium teas and soft drinks including our special homemade organic lemonade. Part of our philosophy is that we do not serve anything that we will not eat or drink ourselves. We serve delicious, healthy vegetarian food and yummy cakes which you can find out about in our menu. We use as much organic and/or locally sourced ingredients as we can, make and bake just about everything ourselves in our own kitchen and take great care in what we do.

Plenty of little places offer soup and sandwiches, but Two Whales is special. The soups are culinary delights, and the sandwiches can be enjoyed on excellent gluten-free bread. The selection is limited, but the well-chosen wines ensure an enjoyable lunch in an attractive part of Newfoundland. The real surprise is the availability of a gluten-free and dairy-free chocolate cake that tastes as good as the conventional style. We regretted not using Port Rexton as our base to explore this part of Newfoundland, because that would have allowed a repeat visit.

This is a small bakery/cafe. The place was full when we arrived so we weren't able to sit down for tea but did buy a brownie for the road. It was very good.

If you're a very picky eater (like me) you probably won't like it here. But I do love coming here because their bagels are AMAZING! Probably the best homemade bagel and homemade cream cheese I have ever tasted. And all the ingredients they use are just outside the restaurant, so you know what you're eating and where it's coming from.

If you eat here, you must try the homemade sparkling lemonade. I've been tempted to go there just for that somedays. It is so good.

The desserts are also very tasty. And if you're a vegetarian or vegan, you will have no problem finding something to eat!

Two Whales is a small coffee shop on the side of a regional highway with virtually no amenities and, accordingly, it is a welcome find for travellers. The shop offers excellent vegan fare, including cappuccinos, lattes and baked goods, soups and sandwiches, in a pleasant but rustic setting. The food is reasonably priced and the service is very friendly.

Very busy and had to wait a few minutes for a table but worth the wait. Lovely home cooked food, very friendly staff and a bright and airy dining area. Finished up with excellent coffee and cake. In addition, the prices are very competitive.
