Charming as this old hotel is - not all rooms have A/C or reasonably sized bathrooms. It's claim to fame for having hosted Alexander Graham Bell is wearing a tad thin. Be specific when making reservations -- avoid Room 3 unless booking for small children ONLY. A museum dedicated to the inventor and his fantastic life story is worth an overnight visit but Baddeck has resisted diversifying its tourism offerings and, though the setting is gorgeous, offers little in the way of active tourism. A sailing on the Amoeba is the most thrilling activity around but if the ship is packed -- not so much...

Room Tip: Ask for A/C, bed size and # specifically

Maybe the main building is really kind of Inn style but we were placed in the motel in the back of the property. Seemingly a lot of construction was going on in the main building. The motel room we had was well maintained and clean but over priced for what we got.

The location itself is very good in the center of Baddeck and with walking distance to good restaurants and all shops.

We stayed in a motel room with family. Nice enough. Liked that there were three beds for a reasonable price so kids didn't have to share a bed. The location was great - right in the middle of shops and restaurants and right by water to go for walk. Also near the boat to take across to island and beach. Room has tiny fridge and Keurig. Nice setup with a counter. Chairs and little table outside door to sit on shared balcony. Very pleasant. Staff is helpful and answer emails quickly. The weather was very hot and humid and our room was so hot. No air conditioning. It came with a fan and they did find us another, which we appreciated. But even still it was hot. Worse when we had to close inside door at night so we no longer got air from screen door because screen door doesn't lock. At midnight it was 21 Celsius outside and the thermostat in our room showed 27, even after we had the windows and screen door open. I thought I read there was a/c. Maybe that is in the hotel. I don't know how the price compares. I think we chose motel for three beds. If it's not hot, i think the room would be just fine.

My friend and I recently stayed in the Telegraph hotel. It was my first time at this hotel, but not my first time in Baddeck. Before staying here (my friend booked it) I would have never considered this hotel, however we were pleasantly surprised. We loved the decor of the room and everything was clean and perfect for our stay. It's also in a great location and makes it easy to explore Baddeck. The staff were also very helpful in assisting us with planning our trip about the Cabot Trail and provided us with lots of useful information and maps.

Room was bright and clean. Location of the hotel was in the center of Baddeck so it was easy to walk about. Lovely restaurant where we had some excellent coffee and desert. Check in was easy and friendly. We ended up with a room with a little porch and it was absolutely beautiful to sit outside first thing in the morning with the sun shining. Our room had an air tub which was nice as well. We would definitely recommend this place to others.

This is a nice quaint spot. Cool old building. Our room was located out back in the motel. It was attached to another room, with a common porch. The walls were paper thin and I could her everything next door. The room was nicely appointed, but very average. There were flies in the room. Very little space for luggage. The dining room, however, is fantastic. The room is so lovely and our server was outstanding. The food was incredible and very reasonable.

Room Tip: I would not recommend the motel rooms.
