“Seafood Chowder Disappointing”

I have gone to most of the restaurants in the area and each time I try their seafood chowder. I was disappointed in this one as was mostly salmon and then haddock with one scallop. If you like salmon then it you will likely be quite happy. I found the broth lacking flavour and did miss having lobster and shrimp (and more than one scallop). This bowl was $16. Service was good and we were happy to go into some air conditioning as it was quite a humid day.

We ate lobster rolls and drank crisp white wine on the sun-dappled rear patio. Could not have been more lovely.

We entered to get some food to eat. They had vegetarian options. In the meantime we saw lots of kitchenware.

Once it was our turn to order, we were told that they had no more food any longer. They had so many customers that they had to close their shop early. That's great for them.

I am glad though that they are popular. Just walking in the store was quite worthwhile! Next time we are here, we hope to eat there. The menu looks delicious!

The Two Buoys is an excellent spot in Baddeck for linch or an early dinner. The seafood chowder is among the best on the island and the vegetarian chili is a must. Lobster rolls are also outstanding. The curry chicken salad is with a try.

We came in for a bowl of chowder which was good for what it was; I understand in this part of Cape Breton, chowder has more fish than shellfish, but we prefer the latter. Biscuits were really good but not served with butter. We were disappointed with the owner, who made a fuss over the locals but didn't even acknowledge us, even when the locals we had been visiting with tried to include us in their conversation with him; he stood with his back to us the entire time and only talked to the locals. Considering how friendly most east-coasters have been to us, in addition to the fact that owners should be at least polite to the tourists who likely comprise the bulk of their business, I wouldn't return here.
