We spent a few days at the Keltic Lodge in Ingonish. We were able to try a couple of dinners and three breakfasts in the main dining room, called Purple Thistle Dining Room at the lodge. Over the years the lodge had lost its reputation of being an exceptional resort and is now in the process investing money and management to bring back the standing and the reputation. Current status is "the lipstick has been added" and many staff members are trying hard to be friendly, and helpful. The meals were uninspiring and very average in taste. Wine selection is very limited and mediocre! The Morning Buffett spent a good percentage of the time with empty trays, so get there early or right at the end of breakfast when they finally bring out the replacement food. Among staff we found several extremely friendly and efficient people who helped us be patient. Thanks Susan and Jessie.
I would expect that the investment of money to complete renovations will warrant the upgrading of food and wine menu choices along with top class training for all the staff who want to do their best!
