We booked a late November evening meal at Le Caveau in Grand Pre. With no intention of a long drive home after the meal we looked for accommodations nearby. Then I read about this place called The Olde Lantern Inn next door to the Domaine de Grand Pre Winery. We had never heard of the place and we thought we knew this part of the valley.
I talked earlier on the phone with the owner and after a long conversation explaining renovations were in progress booked a room for the night. We arrived shortly after 4 PM and checked in. What a cozy spot. We were the only guests for that night and it was like our private lodge. Our room on the main floor was very comfortable lacking no amenities. The inn is a rambling structure filled with unique rooms, historic appearing architecture, wonderful little spaces and sometimes serendipitous furnishings.
The owners, Desmond and Adriana had remembered we had to cancel our earlier planned stay to celebrate our anniversary and surprised us with a bottle of champagne and even provided the proper glasses.
We settled in and soon enough it was off for our evening meal. I had been told about the story behind the inn’s name by another visitor and was looking forward to our walk to the winery but I won’t spoil the fun.
Breakfast was amazing. “French toast or eggs benedict?”; I couldn’t make up my mind. “How about both?” Both were delicious and the presentation?; see the photo.
To say the least, Desmond and Adriana are interesting hosts and continue to lead a very adventurous life. We could have talked for ours they made us feel that comfortable.
Don’t hesitate to take a walk up over the hill to get a panoramic view of Grand Pre and Cape Blomidon in the distance.
The in progress renovations did not affect our stay in any way. The hosts have created a very special atmosphere which creates a wonderful and memorable stay. Thank You.

My husband and I had a wonderful overnight stay with Desmond and Adriana in January 2017. We stayed to attend an event at Domaine de Grand Pre Winery and Le Caveau restaurant next door.

We had a lovely welcome from both Desmond and Adriana and got settled in. They have a lovely walk from the B&B to the Winery through the vineyard, and they light candles along the path in the evening, so you can find your way home.

Our room had everything we needed and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was delicious and so filling! And, they very graciously modified the breakfast to accommodate my gluten sensitivity.

Thank you, Desmond and Adriana, for your hospitality. We will be back!

Wonderful accommodations, hospitality, food, and view!! I have been there a few times and enjoyed the stay each time, however the current owners (Desmond /Adrianna) are awesome! This was a relaxation getaway, and we were not sure we would have time for breakfast.... SO GLAD WE DID and highly recommend this treat.
We are already thinking about booking again, until then we have the great memory.

We stayed one night in the Olde Lantern Inn. Our room was on the second floor ,spacious, very comfortable and had a lovely view of the neighbouring winery.
The hosts were very friendly and helpful and breakfast was delicious.
The perk is that you can talk a short walk through the vineyard to the winery next door and experience a world class dinner in the restaurant attached to the winery. Or buy a bottle of wine at the store and enjoy the sunset on the deck back at the B&B!

My wife and I spent a couple of days in late September doing some wine touring and hiking in the Annapolis Valley. Stayed two nights at this Inn. It was terrific: the owners were great hosts, the breakfast was exceptional, the rooms were very comfortable. For the second evening, we booked dinner at Le Caveau next door. The walk back to the Inn through the vineyard, with candle lanterns lighting the way, was simply magical. A great experience.

We recently spent two wonderful nights in this quaint inn. The rooms were very spacious and clean, the breakfast was delicious, and the hosts were a joy. It was fun to be given a tutorial of the local areas of interest by our hosts both far and wide! The positively best touch were the lanterns lit by candle through the nearby vineyard to light our way home after dinner! What a great and unexpected joy our stay was.

Wonderful location, accommodation and hosts plus as previous people have put breakfast to die for. I had one of the rooms in the eves and the stars that night just blew me away. There is a decked area outside to sit at and we had a picnic there one night because we wanted a simple meal the view was magnificent and the walk to the winery well worth it.

Room Tip: I loved being under the eves with a chair and a window to look out it was the perfect place for a re...
