After a long drive up from St Andrews we arrived at the Highland Heights Inn in Iona on the Bras D'Or Lake. It is almost impossible to describe the natural beauty of this place or the serenity. When we pulled up it concerned us that there were no other cars. We learned later they were all parked behind the inn and are hidden which makes the front all the nicer. Susan is a supreme hostess and goes out of her way to make your stay as perfect as possible. The restaurant is excellent for all meals and there is great entertainment to a packed local house. Ask for a room on the second floor as they have a private deck overlooking the lake. It is totally quiet and you may see an eagle overhead on the breeze. Iona is located at Little Narrows and there is a sweet little car ferry which run all night to bring you over to the Baddeck side--well worth the $5 for the 3 minute trip. this little inn is a gem, the area is like something out of a movie. Shhh don't let hollywood find out.

Not only is the view breathtakingly beautiful, the staff is amazing. Although my husband and I are from Cape Breton, we decided to stay here for our anniversary. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay a memorable one. The food was amazing and the kitchen staff were absolutley wonderful (not to mention hilarious). It is so warm and welcoming.I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to feel like home. WeI will definatley return.

A fantastic place to welcome you to Cape Breton Island. Highland Heights Inn has a view that will take your breath away, food and deserts that makes your mouth water, and staff and atmosphere that brings the warmth and kindness that Cape Breton Island is known for.

Our stay covered the weekends, and in the evenings they had talented live acts from traditional Cape Breton fiddle players, to folk artists singing traditional Cape Breton ballads.

During the days, it's a short jaunt to local beaches, historic sights (such as the Highland Village located right next door!), or simple sight seeing along the coast.

Strongly recommend a stay at the Highland Heights Inn.

We spent one night in this place. The view is fantastic and the family who runs it could not be more pleasant. I especially recommend it for families who plan to visit the Highland Village next door. I could try to describe the breathtaking view from our balcony but words wouldn't do it justice. It is a little bit out in the middle of nowhere which is what I love about it. But don't expect to pop out to a liquor store or grocery nearby for a drink/snack because there isn't one.
