Description: The Biscuit Eater is a friendly community cafe and bookstore serving homemade, handmade goodness in Mahone Bay's oldest building. Fresh baked buttermilk biscuits, locally roasted coffee, stacks of cookies and baked treats, delicious soups, sandwiches and daily specials are all made with care daily by new owners Jessika and Chris and our talented chef Laurie Zwicker. Take a seat by the hearth in a cozy chair, have lunch in the library, grab a snack to go, or visit with old and new friends in the common room - here the warmth of community is alive, well, and waiting to welcome you. We are accessible, family friendly, inclusive and open to all our neighbours from our oldest customer (98!) to biscuit babies. Our new winter hours are Monday - Saturday from 9-4, keep your eye on our Facebook page for evening events, markets, and workshops. We are also available to host your special events, weddings, and creative retreats, contact us with your ideas and collaborations!

This restaurant would be destination worthy even in my hometown (Manhattan). The only restaurant I’d say that about on the South Shore. Yes, I know, they don’t serve dinner ‍♂️.
The food is delicious, beautifully plated, fresh, seasonal and creative. The staff (and owners) are super nice and the environment is warm and charming (including the lovey back patio).
The fish cakes are the best I had in Nova Scotia, the yogurt bowl is delicious and gorgeous (and I don’t usually order yogurt), the specials and salads are fantastic, get there early for the sweet scones... you won’t be disappointed.

We went here for lunch but learning that they offered high tea ($18/each) starting at 2pm we decided to shop a bit and try that instead. It was delicious! Three savoury tea sandwiches (on biscuits) taken from their lunch menu and three sweet treats (maple french toast, carrot cake cheese cake and half a spice scone) and tea or coffee. They had no problem making one of the orders vegetarian. We were so full after the savoury plate that we took the sweets to go. Very friendly staff. Quaint and eclectic rooms for dining and a unique tea selection. A great place to unwind, get some hearty food, and relax.

Tasty food and great service. The owner is so kind. Would definitely come back. Cute little section of books. Wished I saved room for dessert.

A little disappointed because we came at 11:30 and they don’t serve lunch until 12. Saying that , we ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches which were okay. We ordered the Biscuit Eater and the Ham and Cheese.
