“A blissful getaway.”

Emily Provincial Park

This park has everything you need; literally. Not only do they have showers, bathrooms, campsites, and swimming areas? They also have a general store, a rental area (for paddle boats, canoes and the like,) but they also have areas for those interested in fishing; you can even bring your own boat to use in the National Park! The great thing about the location of the park is that there isn't any light pollution, which means you can indeed see the milky way, shooting stars, and take in the wonderful sights and sounds that nature has to hold. I would highly recommend this excursion to anyone who is looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city!

We had a great time at Emily park! It's close enough to Peterborough that you can drive there for food and activities but it also has a great woodsy atmosphere. The camp sites were huge and also private! We had a full sized camper that slept 8 and we still had room for a truck, another vehicle, a tent, the provided picnic table and a fire pit. We were there during a tornado warning and severe thunder storm but still had a great time! Our camper had a awning so we sat under it during the rain to enjoy the outdoors. The campsite was quiet at night and the other campers were really nice. During the tornado warning a fellow camper came by to warn us of the severe weather coming our way which was so kind. Great family environment for sure, there are playgrounds for kids, places to ride bikes, a beach and rentals on the water. We went paddle boating which we would not recommend because of how difficult it was to maneuver around the water, but we still had fun. Overall it was a great campsite and a fun experience!

Emily Provincial Park is an ideal camping getaway for people who don't like to travel too far yet yearn for the camping experience of the outdoors. The campground is broken into several camping areas. We stayed at the Cedar site. This was further away from the beach and playground and as a result had fewer children and campers in general, even for a long August holiday weekend. Yes there was a crying baby off in the distance and the distant howling of young yahoos on one night but you will get that when there are enough campers around. No site is immune to that.
There are two beaches. The north beach tends to have environmental issues due to the currents and was closed when we were there. The south beach however is more than adequate to handle all campers with adequate beach and swimming areas. The closed north beach was still ideal for general basking or volleyball.
The staff is very helpful and friendly. The kayak and canoe rentals are reasonably priced but in demand so book early if your heart is set on this.
The company store is well-stocked and sell a good selection of ice cream flavors as well. Lots of wood and ice are on hand for those who need them.
All told this was a pleasant experience and we would definitely revisit.

Went for day use, left 15 min later. Way to many weeds, day use swim area closed due to high bacteria. Hiking area closed due to unsafe Boardwalk. Lots of cedar = lots of bugs. Camp sights are really close to road ways. Good thing, they promptly refunded my day use fee, no questions asked. We wanted to rent canoe but passed due to so many weeds, and high speed boats running. To much boat traffic.

Had a great time camping there as a kid a lot of good memories. Sites are very close together and the entire park is kind of over used. Fishing was always good for rock bass perfect for kids not so much for peace and quiet.
