don't tell them you're here working

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Apr 23, 2015
This is a place I liked, it's set up like little apartment with a living room, kitchen and bedroom but when I showed up with my bag and work boots in hand, the price jumped. I can't say that is still the case but that is what happened when I booked in there last time. It may be different owners now but I'd still hide my boots. :-) I rented for a week and paid the going rate, then I came back two weeks later as I had a temporary job at the local Nuclear Energy Plant and when I went to book my room he gave me a much higher price and when I asked why, he asked if I was going to work at the Bruce and when I said yes, he said, well you're going to make big money! I asked what my wages had to do with the price of his rooms, they don't affect the price of any other room anywhere I've ever been.....as I said, that was long ago and I live in town now. The rooms are good and convenient and homey too, with everything you could need, a stove included, so don't just take my opinion and check it out if it's what you need.

Room Tip: Parking is on the South side as is the entrance.

Had one week biz trip in Kincardine but all reasonable accommodations there booked (Bruce doing renovations again?). Made reservation thru Hotel.com. Unfortunately had to cancel day before. Called hotel to notify same and expected to pay late cancellation charge. Bob the reservation manager was extremly accommodating and waived the mandatory one day charge and we received our credit accordingly. Will definitely book there next time round.

We stayed for two nights and we were very pleased as the room was a bit dated it was the cleanest room we have been in for a long time. Everything was provided for us and we quite enjoyed our stay there, we would absolutely recommend this place to our friends and family!

As others have mentioned the decor is somewhat dated; however, the cleanliness and the friendliness of the owners and staff make up for that. The two bedroom which we stayed in had lots of room. There is a nice little park setting at the back, with probably four barbecues. I would highly recommend this hotel. This is easily a hotel that you could stay at while visiting the area, Bruce Pennisula etc. and avoid the costs of other hotels.

If you can get past the 70's decor and "classic" appliances, you'll enjoy a very clean room with a great functional kitchen. This motel is very well run and you can tell there is a pride of ownership. BBQs are available outside and the location is perfect as a base to Port Elgin's southern beach (Hwy 25). Strongly recommended.

Stayed in the 2 bedroom suite with the living room and full kitchen on the 2nd floor. It was a very good value for a suite that had everything we needed and was clean. Beds were new and very comfortable pillow tops. Kitchen came fully equipped and the living room was comfortable as well. Staff were friendly and very hospitable. I would stay here again while in Port Elgin. Good spot for the the family to use as a base to visit area beaches and attractions. Could use some improvements to the bathroom fans and AC units but all in all a pretty good hotel.
