My family of 5 visited the beach after a long day of touring the cliffs. Of all the beaches in Cavendish, this was the best. It's very busy, but there is plenty of space as well. The water was warm. The sand was perfect. The area is well maintained with a lovely boardwalk to the beach, and an extended walkway down the beach for wheelchairs or strollers. Not much cover available, so bring an umbrella.
There are washrooms, water refill station, a canteen and a trail off to one side, before you make your way down to the beach.
The entry fee is $7.80 per adult (kids were free), and it gives you access to the entire provincial park for 24 hours. So worth it.

We were there with three young children and three adults. This is the famous beach on PEI and it shows. It was very busy with people everywhere. It was a beautiful day and it was fun while you stayed out of the water. In the area we were in, there were rocks under the water that made it almost impossible to enjoy a swim in the ocean. There are areas without any rocks of course, but for the 400m or so area we explored, it was rocky and you cut or scratched your feet when you went in the water.

The whole beach is beautiful. They have a brand new board walk that was stunning. The beach was busy but not terribly. Lots of room for planting yourself and your family with plenty of space to lounge around. The water was actually not too bad temperature wise- I thought it would be freezing, but it was certainly swimable. The sand was beautiful, beach was clean, life guards are present.

There was a little concession stand at the start of the board walk. They had an iced cappuccino slushy kind of thing- it was amazing!!! Get it for sure

I would highly recommended spending a day here

It is said that the word ‘sand’ comes from a fusion of the word ‘sea’ and ‘land.’

This is a beautiful example of this joining of the two surfaces of our planet.

Sun bathed dunes leading to lapping waves, carrying the sounds of laughter and splashing of children through the grass and out to sea.

Bring a picnic, get a hot dog and fries, or a cooling ice cream on a shimmering day.

Clean facilities. Plenty of space. Friendly staff.

See you there!
