During our trip through Quebec, we visited 15 B&Bs visited and this was by far the one we would not recommend. Yet our first impression was not so good, because we were not welcomed by the hostess.
When we arrived, a young girl opened the door, showed us our room and gave us the key. Much more information she could not give us. Absolutely no reproach to her, because she certainly did her best!
The hostess we have not seen that day, which we found a little bizar. The next morning at breakfast she greeted us as if we had already seen each other. No problem that a hostess can not be there every moment of the day, but a note, or an apologize afterwards would in this case surely have been appropriate and appreciated.
Later on we chatted some time the hostess, but we still couldn’t find the kindness we read in previous reviews (the main reason why we chose this B&B).
Though we must admit that she gave us good tips on walks in the park.
Then there is the B&B itself: old fashioned and shabby. It may perhaps be clean, but it didn’t seem so. The size of our room was ok, but the decor was a bit poor. Ordinary white sheets would already change a lot, some redesigning and repainting would change even more.
The bathroom was shared with two other rooms, and it was the only time during our trip that we had to wait before we could use the bathroom.
The breakfast was not the best quality, but a good quantity. The first morning we had toast and pancakes with fruit, the second day muesli, a bagel and a little pot of pot. What we especially found strange was that we had to wait a long time before we got our breakfast, even though we had said in advance what time we would come. It all seemed not to be very well organized.
The TV was on all the time during breakfast, which was annoying.
The location of the B & B is good: ideal to explore the Parc de la Gaspésie.
Beautiful coastal location; if you get one of the rooms with sea view, this should be super. We ourselves had originally booked one of these rooms, but a change in our travel plans made we had to take the room at the front, because the other was no longer free (fair enough!). But at night it was fortunately still fairly quiet in that room.
Our overall impression is that Andrée probably her best, but that the personal touch still seems to be missing.
