Old School change into an Auberge, it's not a luxe, but got what you need but very basic ; shower, blow dryer, air conditioning, small TV, bed ( need to change their mattress because it's very soft ), old musty smell, its clean, the lady is very nice and works hard, free parking and a nice waterfront view, even can walk on the shore. A bit pricy for what you get , be careful for extra fees! Not alot of restaurant around, in cap-chat you're better to do camping or do extra millage

Stayed 3 relaxing nights in a converted classroom. Great location along the shores of the north Gaspe coast. Room was modest but very clean, quiet and comfortable. Lovely host was helpful when we arrived last and the facility respected all appropriate COVID safety measures. Conveniently located for drive along coast, walk into town, or drive into Parc de la Gaspesie, this was everything we needed to start out trip. Would stay again.

Room tip: make sure to ask for a room with a view of the St. Lawrence river; can picnic seaside across street.

This is a hostel, albeit, a well-run, tightly regulated hostel. The rooms are clean, but sparsely decorated and have everything you need if you are just looking for a place to spend a night and a kitchen to prepare a meal in. The common showers and toilets were very clean, although a bit away from the rooms on the upper floor as they, and the kitchen, are tucked away on the lower level. The kitchen was fairly well equipped. We stayed at the beginning of hiking season and as such, there were only one or two other rooms occupied. Despite the minimal occupants, noise travelled quite a bit in old school hallways, as one could readily hear others entering their rooms, or walking down the common hallway - particularly in the middle of the night. Overall, the Auberge was reasonably priced (compared to other offerings) if you are looking for kitchen access and not expecting any frills.

If you like to share your most intimate moments with perfect strangers, this is the place to be.

For $100/night, you will have the pleasure to share bathrooms, toilets and kitchen with your neighbors. In addition, the walls of your bedroom are so thin that you will have some free entertainment every time one of your neighbors feel in a romantic mood with his/her companion. The last night of our stay was memorable....we had a group of bikers.

The room is small [about 20 feet long for 7 feet wide] with no TV nor air conditioning. During a hot day, it is unbearable. Of course, you will have the option to open the window and hear the traffic on route 132. From personal experience, the traffic is heavy, even during the night. The mattress is so old that you can feel the springs....but that's the least of your problems.

In terms of the registration, this is like "Hotel California" [i.e. you can get in....but you can't get out it]. You won't be able to make any changes or cancellation without paying a hefty 50% penalty. Please read the cancellation policy very... very carefully. This "auberge" is the worst I have ever experienced over the past 30 years.

The people who runs this hotel charge rates higher than booked or advertised. I saw the rate was around $50 US dollars when I hit the button to book and at the end I had to pay $100, as you can't make changes, then I can't do anything about it.

Any website listing this hotel should be ashamed to list or recommend this kind of facilities.

We booked a superior double with an ocean view and were very pleased with the room. the bed was fine, the room was clean and the views really were of the St Lawrence. The room has a small fridge, a small table with chairs, a sort of rocking chair, an armoire and the bed, so the room is cosy but not cramped. The bathroom is small but that was not an issue for us. As the Auberge fronts onto a quiet street, with the water beyond that, it is pretty quiet. Our check in was easy--if you are not a Francophone, don't worry as English is also spoken. The public areas such as the kitchen were well maintained. The dining room is a bit dim in lighting, but also clean. This is very much a hostel, and hence the reasonable price, although opting for a room with a private bathroom gives you more. and as in most hostels, there are guidelines about expectations. The Wifi worked. It is an easy walk to the center of the town. All in all, a fine place to stay.

We drove by the Auberge and it looked like a nice place to stay, by the river. I took what the owner described as a "superior" room, overlooking the river. The room was in fact tiny, with the smallest shower i have ever seen. I was immediately informed that shoes had to be removed. I complied. We had our bikes with us and it was pouring. I asked the owner whether we could store somewhere. No. I was also told we could not use the dining room between 8 and 9. Fine
Two things bothered me: the price of the room - vastly overpriced for what you get and last but not least the myriad of rules posted up everywhere you go
Best thing: we met some nice people from France while we were using the cooking facilities downstairs. Fortunately there were no rules about making friends
