Lovely Surprise on the Beach

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jun 5, 2018via mobile
I really like this beach side motel. No, it doesn’t offer 5-Star amenities, but they do have a very nice facility in a great location.

The rooms in the 300s seem to be larger and newer. Spacious, freshly painted and nicely furnished. The rooms are located the furthest from the beach but the view across the lawn to the water is very nice. The bathroom is small with the sink out in the room. There is a tub with a shower head.

Other rooms get progressively closer to the beach but they look older and smaller. It was evident that at least some (maybe all?) of the older rooms were getting new bathroom tile.

Everything is very clean. WiFi was good. No pool. It looks like a good place to just let the kids run. There’s a large grassy expanse, mini-golf, a playground and a lot of beach. The cabins look like a good bet for those with families. although you lose the beach view, the water is not far away.

We booked a semi-detached cottage with kitchenette. Our cottage was very clean and and nicely decorated. We walked the beautiful grounds and enjoyed the views of the St-Lawrence. Other than lack of recycling, we were very pleased with our accommodations and would not hesitate to recommend Motel Beaurivage, especially the little cottages!

A little away from the town makes the beach very private. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Restaurant only had breakfast but excellent food with very good service and reasonable priced. Beach and sunsets are highlights.

The room was clean, the bed was a double size ( not so big )but very comfortable.
the wifi was good, not very fast but enough to be able to browse.
one negative point -the room overall look old like 70's-80's and there is no air conditioning only a fan.
there is a mini golf outside the building and it free

Room tip: this is a seasonal motel so it not open during the winter

Planning to tour the Gaspé Peninsula & found this great motel (on the Gulf of St. Lawrence) on the internet & reserved 1 night only 26-9-16; as per our request, we were assigned a unit furthest away from the entrance/office & restaurant (#338) which happens to be the nearest to the waterfront; parking directly at our back door. Our unit was immaculately clean & had a kitchenette w/fridge, hot plate, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster, dishes including real glasses, cups & dishes, table & 2 chairs, 32" flat screen TV & free wifi which was very reliable, in-room safe, iron & board. Washroom very clean, modern, with a neo-angle shower. This was a corner unit with large picture window on both sides so we enjoyed amazing views of our surroundings - also a patio door leading to a small veranda with 2 patio chairs directly overlooking the manicured property & water. We had a very restful sleep, super comfortable bed & duvet & pillows. We were there in late September & on-site restaurant served breakfast only (perhaps due to being off-season) prices very reasonable, dining room was very nice, pleasant surrounding overlooking water & property, food was freshly prepared, very tasty & served hot along with great coffee! Excellent service in dining room by Marlène St. Laurent as well as Nicole at reception. Wished we could have stayed an extra day, it was so relaxing here. Several restaurants just a short drive away or a nice walk on a warm day. In the evening, we ordered a pizza from a small pizzeria located within a small gas station just over the bridge (on the left side) heading into town from the motel , less than 2kms away- can't recall the name of the gas station or name of the pizza place, but it was totally amazing, lots of toppings, great fresh crust, one of the best pizza I have had in a very long time! We stopped there in the afternoon & picked up their menu, then called in order later -they don't deliver, but well worth the effort to go pick it up! They were closing at 8:00 p.m. that evening, perhaps due to late September slow season. Also noticed a Tim Horton's nearby.

We were traveling from Quebec City to Gaspe, and stopped at this hotel. It is very close to the highway (Rte 132) and the St. Lawrence....so its easy to spot from highway, and you won't be hunting around if you arrive at night.

The best way to describe the rooms is "nice and cozy"....somewhat small, but 2 beds, room for hanging clothes, a desk and TV....and a huge window to look out at the river! After our drive, we setup a couple of chairs looking out the window and just sat and enjoyed the view for a good while. We stayed the week of September 28, so no comments on the beach, however we did walk around in the evening, and (given its a small town) obviously nice and peaceful.

A couple of comments on previous (negative) reviews:

    1) Dinner - when we arrived, we were told that the restaurant was only for breakfast....we went late in the season, so not sure if they advertise dinner in peak season, but we were certainly clear that only breakfast was offered.
    2) Beds - an old (2013) post that indicated the beds were not good, but obviously the motel has upgraded the mattresses. Our beds were excellent, and I would say they were more comfortable than a couple of full service hotels we stayed at on this drive.
    3) Reception. Certainly, the lady who greeted us wasn't "warm and bubbly", however we asked to see the room first, and a key was provided quickly, and after that we were checked in quickly and efficiently. As we were only staying one night, it was exactly what was needed.
    4) Wifi - inconsistent, and given that the motel had only a few rooms booked, probably an area that could be improved. That said, see above comments about big window....put the technology away, and look at the river!!

Would easily recommend this motel for stays of 1 or 2 nights.

Room tip: If you have children, you probably need to book a cabin - couple can easily stay anywhere.
