. . . and better than some. The motel is nicely situated on the shores of the St. Lawrence River, on the outskirts of the town of Sainte-Anne-des-Monts and far enough removed from route 132 to allow for peace and quiet. In a way, it reminds me of the motels and cabins that used to dot the landscapes along the shores of the Gaspé Peninsula so characteristic of the late fifties and sixties.
Our room was probably one of the oldest ones, a throwback to the sixties, with wooden slats on walls and ceilings, but well equipped, clean, with two comfortable double beds, flat screen TV, free Wi-Fi and a view of the river, . . . but no air conditioning! Good thing we stayed here before the interminable heat wave this year. Other rooms are newer or renovated. Some have fully equipped kitchenettes. Picnic tables and Adirondack chairs are spread out over the immense lawn between motel and the shore, and were accessible through a rather worn-out backdoor of the room, with a Mini golf at the front of the motel. Breakfast was served in a pleasant, brightly lit veranda-type dining room, but was not included in the price. Nevertheless, with the rates being what they are, it is good value. Looks like a tightly run place.
