The hotel is beautiful! It's quite a winding road to get there but worth it. The rooms are spacious with beautiful beds and bath tub. The restaurant is also beautiful. Great hospitality and food! Perfect for a weekend getaway.

We stayed at Hotel El Rebozo on December 16 -18th. We were the only two guests at the hotel as it was low season still, but Irma the owner greeted us with such warmth. She literally embraced us and helped us manage what might have been a difficult stay, as we do not speak Spanish. We wanted to see the butterflies, so she helped arrange this and had her cook make us a special traditional Mexican dinner for a birthday celebration. She truly was a great host.

Room Tip: Some of the staff do not speak English well, so make sure you ask for help if this is a problem.

With a fireplace in our room, we had a perfect setting for a nice conversation that lasted long. In the morning, the view of the surrounding forest is beautiful, and a walk on the gardens opens up the apetite. We felt like in a large home, and the staff was very attentive and kind.

Room Tip: our room was #20, very spacious and right in the center of the main building. Good view of the gardens and the swimming pool.

Very nicely decorated in Mexican hacienda style hotel with lots of attractive ceramic flower pots and wall tiling. Beautiful gardens. The breakfast is very good despite its buffet appearance, especially since the eggs or whatever you ask for are prepared as you order them. Nice and friendly staff.

The hotel is 5 km down a country road which at 9 pm was completely uninhabited. If there had not been some kidnappings in the Valle De Bravo area recently I wouldn't have thought anything about it. We drove a bit nervously but got there with no problems as we had been told by the staff.

Valle de Bravo is a beautiful, Mexican hillside town on a lake. It is all set up for tourism but is not at all a tourist trap nor does it have such a feel. Moreover you feel like you are in an attractive Mexican town with a very lively market and all. However, there are police cars and military trucks all over. Keeping peace... So that means they are needed, as they are in lots of parts of the center of Mexico nowadays. I do not by any means think that it is off limits but one should proceed with caution, traveling, for instance, only by day.

I had booked 2 rooms for one night at el rebozo all CONFIRMED, but on my arrival to the hotel, a guy who runs or owns the place informs me that they are overbooked and that he has another place nearby for me just as good.

What a lie, the other hotel was a crappy place, so small, a joke of a swimming pool, rooms that had a musty smell, etc.

Even though this guy smiled all the time and tried to be nice, he never offered to make it up in any way, he thought that by lodging me at the other hotel was enough, and kept saying he would have to pay more than what i had paid for staying at the rebozo. Well he should have known that was not my problem cause i had a confirmation of a service I never got.

El rebozo is not easy to be found, it is really complicated to get there, i could not see much of the hotel since i was there only for a little while. But i am definitely never going back there!!!

Room Tip: Make sure they will respect your reservation even if it's confirmed
