If you’re contemplating walking over the bridge for lunch in Matamoros look no further than Garcia’s!
Drop 4 quarters into the turnstile at the Gateway International Bridge and it’s a 60 second walk to the front door of the restaurant once you’ve crossed into Mexico.
This restaurant was phenomenal. We tried the chicken enchiladas and a pasta dish. Both were out of this world good. The salad bar came included for one of us, but the portions were so generous that we only got one soup from there. I also received the largest margarita I’ve ever had! The service is very friendly and attentive.
After lunch they have a large shop where you can buy merchandise and pharmaceutical needs.
We decided to hop in a taxi (they line up outside the restaurant) and asked the driver to take us on a 20 minute trip around downtown Matamoros just to see the city. He was very happy to show us around his hometown and then dropped us right off at the bridge again to walk back over to Texas.
Make sure you save 1 quarter for the walk back! There was zero delay crossing on a Thursday around 3pm.
Safe, Clean, Friendly and a lot of Fun!
