Solitude Village has a number of lodging options, but this is the only one where you can literally ski right up to the door, step out of your skis, and directly into the building. It is right across the bridge from the bottom of the Apex lift. When you stay at a unit here, you are provided 1 parking space in the 1st level garage under the building. This is nice to keep your vehicle out of the cold and snow. There is also a first-floor locker room for your skis with locker combinations provided for guest use. We stayed in the southernmost unit on the top (4th) floor, immediately adjacent to the "rooftop" spa. This is a normal jetted tub that has been placed outside on the top floor - only Creekside guests have access - and it definitely provides a feeling of exclusivity when you have it all to yourself. Our 2-bedroom unit was decorated a little nicer than the other Creekside units I saw (from others in our large group). There was tile, lots of wood, granite, etc, and it was tastefully decorated. Two outdoor patios provided a nice opportunity to step out and enjoy the scenery. The full kitchen had plenty of dishes, utensils, glasses, cookware, etc.

We've stayed at the Creekside at Solitude twice now - both during early December (value season). Each time we've had a spacious condo for the price of a hotel room! While the decor is nothing fancy, the rooms are clean and well kept. We enjoyed having a kitchen. (Tip: the restaurants at the resort are all so-so, make use of the kitchen!). Our two favorite things about Creekside: the rooftop hot tub (which at that time of year we had all to ourselves) and the ski in/ski out. It is literally slopeside and oh-so convenient! Our other favorite thing about this resort - the spa! We got massages almost every night, and at an affordable price! Plus the spa manager, Hawk, is probably the best massage therapist I've ever been to. All in all great place to vacation - minus the restaurants.

Here is a double review: Creekside and Solitude…

First let’s start out with the mountain…because if you don’t like the mountain then why bother coming.

Solitude: Check out the winter trail map. It looks small..but It really isn’t. I mean, its no where near the size of Snowbird or Steamboat Springs, but for a week long trip there is tons of terrain to cover…but unlike most resorts, Solitude’s trails start out easy with a nice set of greens, but then quickly go to the extremely hairy side. The blue runs at Solitude are like the blacks at Snowbird..they are steeper and bumpier. Nice. Really Nice! We were here for the first time on Dec 31, 2012…the conditions were perfect, the weather with blue sky..and there were NO LIFTLINES…None..I mean like I have never seen this before there were enough people to make you feel like you were not alone, but it was completely open and uncrowded. Back to the terrain…I cant talk enough about the steeps. There is stuff here that can rock your world if you are a hardcore skier. Our 7 year old and 10 year old are just getting started with skiing and they were happy on the greens and a few of the blue runs.

The ski school for kids was great. But they either have afternoon only or full day lessons. I wish they had morning lessons for the kids so that I could ski the fresh stuff in the morning and then join up with the kids after lessons for some groomers (after my legs were burnt).

The village: The village is tiny. Not much here. A few restaurants with ski food. A nice bar or two. IMPORTANT: the “Store” only has like Pringles, ice cream bars, ritz crackers, and beer. If you want to cook make sure you grocery shop before you get here because there is no store here. Or use (like we did) canyon Delivery to order your food online and have it delivered before you get there.
Creekside: This is a great ski accommodation. Comfortable, hooks for gear, hot tub on roof, but no common area. When you check in, make sure to go to the main building before coming to the Creekside building. The main building is 200 yards away when you first access the facility. Creekside is right on the mountain. We had room 101 with a porch facing the mountain..meaning that we could literally ski in and ski out of our place. The swimming pool is 100 yards away at the main building. Very nice layout of the condo. Not much more to say. See the pics.

We stayed here in September for a 2 day conference. The area is beautiful with the Aspens a bright yellow color. The village is extremely quiet at this time of year, yet most of the restaurants were open. We were able to book a 1 bedroom condo with a 3rd night free. It had all of the comforts of home, with a full kitchen, living room with fireplace, dining room, bedroom and two bathrooms. We asked for wood, and it was not only free, they brought it to our condo for us. The finishings in the condo were not as high end as I would have expected, but it was very nice. We walked up the path in the ski resort one evening and ran into many deer. One morning a moose walked through the ski resort! Be sure to try Kimi's downstairs. Excellent!

Wonderful condo building with wood burning fireplaces, ski to and from the lifts. One of the better ski vacation lodging anywhere.
