Lovely romantic hotel in a beautiful town completely let down by customer care, staff attitudes and lack of consideration for it's guests.Attitude of staff poor and furthermore no response from complaint made by e-mail.What a shame for such a beautiful old building.Poor quality of breakfasts and dirty cups shoved in drawer.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask to be in the main building.

Lovely romantIc hotel for our stay in march 2012. Shame there was no bottled water in the room. Staff were not overly welcoming in. But would stay again.

We stayed here for a night last weekend when visiting friends. Our room was in the newer part at the back where the car park was. We didn't really mind this as the room and bathroom was a good size and looked very new. We were pleased to find we'd got a bath plus a separate shower cubicle with plenty of toiletries. The bed was comfy, though we both found the pillows too hard for us, we realised as we were packing to go that there was an extra, softer pillow in the wardrobe too. It was quiet at night, you could hear other people slightly but not later on. Our friends had a room in the older main hotel, there room was also nice having beams and a sloping floor, though the furniture was the same as that in our room. The breakfast was well cooked using good ingredients. I would think if the hotel was full they may struggle to accommodate everyone at once as the breakfast room is fairly small. What we liked was that at weekends breakfast is 8 - 10.30am and check out is 12 which gave us all the chance for a lie in. We were all pleased with our stay and said we'd stay again next time we were in Amersham.

Chance booking as we decided to not drive north. Young man on reception was very good-helpful and did us a good deal on a room. Room fine for price and certainly a good size.
Breakfast was the standard and fairly average-sausage was good and eggs were definitely free range, coffee from a jug was very poor.
Checkout well handled and a friendly young lady.
If there was a good rating would get it-but not a very good.
Having had an appalling reception at a nearby alternative would use again if we were in the area.

I was only staying in Amersham for one night to complete a volunteering day in a local youth centre the next day, so literally just needed a place to stay. I was quite looking forward to my stay as it looked like a quaint old hotel in a lovely town. The lobby area of the hotel is very pleasant and harks back to the medieval roots of Old Amersham, and the rooms themselves are more modern, but very nicely done

The biggest issue for me however was that due to the old nature of the hotel, you could hear everything going on in the rest of the hotel, from people coming and going in the night, to people going to the loo!

In the morning, the breakfast was good, and the staff were chatty and friendly, but I was still half asleep from having such a disturbed night. I don't know whether you can specifically request a quieter room, but if you can, then you should!

I had dinner at The Crown down the road, and this was absolutely lovely, I really couldn't fault it, and would definitely recommend.

Overall, if the hotel had been quieter then it would have received a much higher rating.
