Description: We are situated in the heart of the picturesque Buckinghamshire village of Taplow, close to the historic river Thames, in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Whether you are just dropping in for a quick drink or are planning to have a meal, you can always expect a warm and friendly welcome and a place where you can relax and get away from the stresses and strains of daily life. Our extensive menus cover everything from a quick snack to three course meals. We also have a good selection of fine wines from which you can choose to complement your meal. In the summer months, you can, if you wish, eat alfresco on our lovely patio or in the garden. There are many places of historical interest nearby, including Cliveden House, former home of Lord and Lady Astor, which was infamously associated with the 'Profumo Affair'. Also of interest is St Nicholas church, which is in the village itself.

We'd been to Cliveden, the National Trust property and wanted somewhere for lunch. The Oak & Saw is the the CAMRA Good Beer Guide, so we headed there.
It's a delightful place! It's not that large inside and has a small patio area and small garden area. The car park is pretty small too.
The servings however are far from small and more than adequately satisfied us. The Rebellion beer too went down well.
We will remember to schedule a visit here next time we visit Cliveden.

We had Sunday lunch we all chose lamb two of us asked for well done and it was all served to perfection, one suggestion can veg be served in dishes, we had lots of waste owing to personal dislikes, I would have eaten all the broccoli....... but not from someone’s plate!

This is a great cosy pub with a friendly barman and good food. We'll be back, as we've moved into the area and need a new local!

Lovely local village pub for a Friday night drink with friends & family. Yet barman couldn’t smile once - no matter how much we tried!!!

Hi Anouska

Sorry to hear about this!

Could you tell me which Friday night you came in? I'd like to have a chat with whoever is the unfriendly face!

Regards

Ian

Took my Mum here yesterday for lunch and we had a great meal. The service was friendly and prompt and the food was delicious. Mum really enjoyed it. There’s a good range of dishes at a good price. The venison chilli is very tasty indeed. Well worth a visit.
