“Stunning accommodation in a beautiful setting; perfect for a large gathering”
Reviewed April 28, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We rented both the Barn and the Stable for the long weekend just past, for a party of 11 adults and 1 child. The Barn and Stables were perfect for our family gathering, with plenty of space for everyone.

Every little detail has been well thought out and it is furnished with the best quality goods throughout. The double fridge and separate wine fridge in the barn was particularly useful. The Bose stereo system with Blue-tooth connectivity is also a great feature. The beds were all really comfy and the bedrooms themselves were absolutely stunning.

Trish and her husband are fantastic hosts, never intrusive, but close at hand should you require anything. Our full party loved the accommodation and everyone would not think twice about staying here again. It's perfect for a quiet, relaxing break. In beautiful surroundings with lots of walking routes from the doorstep. Alston, only five miles away, has a great provision of quaint little local shops, pubs and the Spar there is brilliant.

I would highly recommend a stay in the Barn and the Stables; you will not be disappointed.

“Perfect location for a birthday get-together”
Reviewed April 22, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We rented the barn and the stable for a long weekend in April. The standard of accommodation was very high. The dining room table was ideal for gathering everyone together, while the smaller seating areas and snugs were great for more intimate groups. The surrounding area offered lots of opportunities for beautiful walks. Hadrians Wall is only a few miles away. We had a lovely lunch in the nearby Kirkstyle Inn. Tricia was extremely welcoming and friendly. We were only sorry our stay was so short.

“Fantastic place to stay...”
Reviewed April 10, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We booked both the Barn & Stable for the week after the Easter weekend for a group of 16 friends and could not have found a better place to stay.

Firstly the accommodation is to an exceptionally high standard and well appointed with everything that you'd need for a trip away from home.

Trish, the owner, is on hand & is such a lovely helpful person who made our stay as good as it was - if we needed anything she was more than happy to help.

It's also worth noting that Tesco in Carlise do actually deliver here if you order with plenty of notice - there were 16 of us and we ordered around 5 days in advance and the shopping arrived bang on the delivery time requested. I'd advise doing this as the shops in Alston are only small.

The property is also dog friendly.

The location is also ideal for that country get-away; only 5 or so miles from Alston, the local town which has all the shops you need plus a few pubs, chippy, butchers etc.

In the opposite direction is the Kirkstyle Pub, about a 45 minute walk away, which serves traditional pub food and also offer a very friendly & welcoming service.

There are plenty of beautiful walks around the local area and a few beauty spots further afield. The walks from Alston are a must - ask Trish for the leaflets.

You must also try Cauldren's Snout & High Force waterfalls along with Ashgill Force. You can also reach Hadrian's Wall in about 30 minutes drive.

I would highly recommend this place to stay if you are a large group or indeed just wanted to stay in either the barn or the stable as both can be booked individually.

We hope to back in the future.

Please feel free to ask any questions if you need more details.

“Absolutely Perfect”
Reviewed February 20, 2015 for a stay in February 2015

I have just returned home from a fantastic mid week (mon-fri) holiday to celebrate my 30th at Broadmea. we hired both the barn and the stable and we honestly could not of asked for more. Patricia was so helpful from day one, and really understanding about some difficulties i had with chasing friends up for money towards the accomodation.
The conversion on the barn and stable is incredible, my friends and i were blown away by the thought and detail that has gone into converting them both.
The kitchen is so well stocked, you will want for nothing in the catering department and theres plenty of towels and bedding. the beds are also insanely comfortable.
Im afraid we may have gotten a little rowdy on my actual birthday but we had no complaints from patricia, who does live on site. Although we did try our best to keep noise down!
I would highly recommend Broadmea for a special occasion, it is very good value for money as you really do get what you pay for.
Thanks again.

Liked best: The house and customer service
Liked least: only tiny detail i would add is that it would be nice if the house was stocked with toilet roll as the nearest shop is quite a way away but not the end of the world to nip out for!

“"Stunning"”
Reviewed February 10, 2015 for a stay in February 2015

I spent a long weekend in February with Friends at Broadmea Barn as part of my 50th Birthday Celebrations. What can I say, the converted barn is absolutely stunning, beautifully decorated, very spacious but cosy at the same time, it is very well equipped, so all you need is your supplies.
The Barn is situated is some beautiful countryside with some lovely little villages but you are also near enough to Gretna or Carlisle for shopping
I had a fabulous, relaxing weekend, with great friends in a beautiful House , we would highly recommend this to our friends and family

“Excellent property in great surroundings”
Reviewed January 28, 2015 for a stay in January 2015

We spent 3 nights in Broadmea with a group of 8. Perfect accommodation with great attention to detail. Lots of facilities and great surroundings. Trish, the owner, was lovely and made sure we had a brilliant stay. The open plan layout was perfect and the sauna an added bonus! We will be back soon :)

“Fantastic weekend in this beautiful barn”
Reviewed January 18, 2015 for a stay in January 2015

Broadmea Barn was a real find. The location is stunning , especially after it had been snowing as the view from upstairs over the hills was lovely . Great open plan kitchen/diner made for a great sociable entertaining space for our group of 10. Attention to detail is lovely and the kitchen was the best stocked I have found in self catering accommodation. The owner Trish was lovely and couldn't do enough to please . I would highly recommend this place and if you are venturing out , the food at the Kirkstyle Inn a mile or so away was fabulous
