“Relaxation, everything we needed including maps and walks - all in all a perfect stay.”
Reviewed May 27, 2014 for a stay in April 2014

This place was a delight. Further out than I usually stay the property made up for in amenity and peace. Being off the beaten track nights were so silent, perfect for a refreshing sleep. The maps in the bookcase helped no end in planning our days as the weather dictated - which behaved beautifully!

“Very comfortable well equipped cottage with all home comforts . Great place to stay with family or friends.”
Reviewed October 16, 2012 for a stay in October 2012

Have just enjoyed a second stay at this cottage with friends. It's in a beautiful location in a quiet area of the Lakes with lots of walks nearby. The lovely village of Caldbeck is about 5 miles away.
The cottage has everything you could need for a walking holiday. It's very clean, well equipped and comfortable. Will be staying there again in future hopefully.
The local pub is about one or two minutes walk away and offers very nice meals and good beer!
There is a tea-room a few doors away which does offer evening meals at weekends. However, from a disappointing experience, it is better to use the pub for meals and the tea room for tea and cakes!

“Perfect, family-orientated cottage ideal for exploring Northern Lake District”
Reviewed September 7, 2012 for a stay in August 2012

This cottage is fabulous! - beautifully furnished and had everything we needed and much more. Your thoughtful provision of recommended places to visit and walks was appreciated, and of course our 12-year-old twins relished the Games room! We are regular visitors to the Lake District but hadn't stayed this far North before - we loved the rolling, green dales - ideal cycling country too.

Our highlights were climbing Skiddaw (took the bridleway route up which was popular and ideal for safe walking with children even on a slightly rainy day), Whinlatter with its Go Ape and many waymarked walks, a trip to the seaside at Maryport (with minigolf, many wading birds and views of the Solway Firth), and visiting the osprey viewing points in Dodd Wood (actually we just missed the Ospreys by a day!! - they were en route to West Africa - but the wardens were informative and the views amazing nonetheless).

All in all, 5 stars at least from us :).

Oh by the way, we were amused by the sheep and cows going by each day, and loved watching the starlings and swallows gather on the telegraph wires each evening right outside the lounge window - hundreds of them!

Great house with all amenities we stayed with 4 kids under 10 and they loved the games room. Lovely communal kitchen and dining area and lots of lovely walks from the door. We went off most days swimming, animal parks and adventure parks so plenty to do whatever the weather.
