This hotel is right in the centre of town. However, Ulverston is so small that pretty much anywhere is close to the centre. It is comfortable, very quiet and with the usual amenities expected in a small town. It was probably very stylish in the 1950s, and little has been done to update it. The room doors have keys, for example, none of that fancy card-key computerised modernisation, and you have another key to let yourself in the front door after 10pm. I was looking forward to a cooked breakfast (one of the reasons I chose it), but was told that they were offering continental breakfast only. This turned out to be cereal, toast, coffee (tea on request) and a bit of fruit. I think there was some cheese and ham for European visitors. The most outstanding feature was the staff, who were incredibly friendly be welcoming. It’s worth staying there for that reason alone. All in all, very pleasant, friendly, comfortable quiet and welcoming in a central location. Probably about the best Ulverston has to offer. Recommended.

I visit Ulverston many times I like the town very much and I usually stay at the Lonsdale I find it a nice and well located Hotel with friendly staff My last stay was on the 22/09/18 when without any prior warnings I was informed the management have removed the option of a cooked breakfast this is something I was looking forward too and was not told until breakfast time. so I checked out and had a nice breakfast at the Farmers around the corner but that puts the price up to over a £100 for a one night stay. Lonsdale you have lost a customer because of your decision to remove a cooked breakfast you can stay at the Sun Inn for nearly half the price and have money left to buy the breakfast

This place couldn't have been less welcoming (ok it was raining too): unhappy looking staff, small tired room and a strange smell. Wifi and breakfast, at least, were good and the nlocatin is very handy.

Booked a superior room to stay for the week whilst working in Barrow. Checked in staff were friendly. Walked into downstairs room 303. Room smelt of damp and body odor. Floor tiles in bathroom cracked. Wall paper hanging from the walls from damp residue. Paint pealing off from radiator.

Unpacked bags and got into bed to find sheets and pillowcases stained and hairs within the duvet and sheets. Looked as if the bed had not been made.

Staff took comments and said they would pass onto the management.

Having chosen the superior room and paid £95 a night I had expected better.

Shall not be booking here again and will not be recommending to colleagues
