“Perfect getaway for two”
Reviewed 8 January 2016 for a stay in January 2016

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The owner made is feel so welcome and had made some special touches around the cottage as I had mentioned were on our honeymoon, including a bottle of fizz for us when we arrived! She had also arranged to get us a parking permit so we didn't need to get one ourselves. The cottage itself is very warm and cosy with pretty much everything you could need. The kitchen is modern and well equipped, and the bathroom is extremely well appointed with the modern tiles contrasting with the original stone wall and a lovely rain head shower. If you don't mind stepping through quite a small opening to get to the bedroom (the gable end that divides the cottage is part of its listed status) then I would strongly recommend you book a few nights and enjoy the beautiful town of Ashbourne and this wonderful little gem of a cottage.

Liked best: Rain head shower
Liked least: Flashing light on CO detector/alarm in the bedroom!

“Out of this world ”
Reviewed 23 December 2015 for a stay in December 2015

Well what can I say, what a beautiful well maintained grade 2 listed cottage. Maria and Ian have done a fab job with this and their hospitality was humbling. From the cleanliness to the querkiness of this cottage it really has been a perfect Christmas getaway. Ashbourne is a delightful town with antiques, boutiques old pubs and fab walks. I would definatly recommend a trip to dovedale, the tissington trail and (if have access to a car) drive to speedwell cavern and take a boat ride down the old lead mines :) .
We really did have a adventurous/relaxing 4 nights here, thank you Maria and Ian -HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

“Beautiful property and welcome - couldn't have asked for more”
Reviewed 3 November 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Pegges Almshouse Cottage has everything you could wish for. The rooms are beautiful and every little detail makes for a perfect place to stay and relax. The welcome from Maria was also lovely - she sorted our parking pass, showed us everything in the property and then left us to have a perfect weekend. Wouldn't have changed a thing. Pegges cottage is perfectly situated for fantastic restaurants and cafes and also Dovedale - where we spent a wonderful day. Thanks so much Maria.

“Memorable”
Reviewed 18 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Immaculately presented cottage, which is over 300 years old. Well located in Ashbourne centre. Very clean and equipped with every convenience. You cannot park outside, but can park close by. A few steps to negotiate for access to cottage. Shower room is downstairs. Sainsbury is close by for easy self catering, no need to drive.

“Amazing”
Reviewed 17 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

You will not be disappointed when renting this beautiful cottage. All modern conveniences with a great shower room. The bedroom was quirky and the bed and linen were excellent.
Owner Maria was extremely helpful by meeting us with our 3 day parking permit ticket and then showing us to the cottage around the corner from the car park, pointing out a nice walk about 2 miles down the trail to a nice pub, in fact we ate there twice during our stay as dogs are welcome. The cottage is in town and just a stones throw from the local shops, supermarket and a selection of pubs and tea rooms.

Dog friendly rental, by request to the owner.

We will certainly recommend to family and friends.

“Stunning cottage in a great location!”
Reviewed 28 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

What a beautiful little cottage! weve just come back from three lovely days at this stunning cottage that is immaculate considering it's over 300 years old. Maria was so helpful and even organised a three day parking pass for us before we arrived.
There were some really nice touches that made our stay that little bit more special, like the welcome pack which included wine, chocolates and locally made ginger biscuits. We recently got married and they even put a "just married" sign above the bed for us.
It's location is perfect for everything you need. Literally a two minutes walk and your in the centre of Ashbourne and it's only a 10 minute drive to Dovedale and Carsington water . The walk along the river from Dovedale to Milldale is beautiful and our dog Archie particularly enjoyed it spending most of the time in the river!
The start of the Tissington trail is also only a two minute walk from the cottage and I would recommend using or hiring bikes if you're intending on doing this. Bikes can be hired about 200m into the walk at the bike hut.
All in all I would highly recommend using Pegges cottage, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thanks again to Maria and Ian.

Close to town centre and bus station. Lovely walks around the area, which both myself and my dog enjoyed.
