This is the first time I have stayed in a Best Western Hotel, and was impressed. Bearing in mind, or course, that Kew Lodge in one of Best Western's Premier Hotels. The Staff were delightful and the food was certainly up to the standard I would have expected from a 2AA Rosette award. I often read in reviews that the room was tired but not at Yew Lodge. As we live in Lancashire our reason for staying was as a base to enable my wife and myself to visit three National Trust properties near Derby. Calke Abbey, Kedleston and Sudbury Hall which we did. Most of the other people staying on both nights were single male or females so I can only assume that it is used more by representatives than by couples. As it is only 2 miles from the East Midlands airport it would be an excellent overnight stay, if required, especially as the car could be left at the hotel during the holiday. Certainly worth telephoning the hotel for more details.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 324 which is on the road side of the Hotel. However road noise was not a proble...

We stayed overnight at the Yew Lodge the night before flying and had a fabulous experience.
We parked our car and had the private transfer to and from the airport which was included in the cost. The driver was most helpful with the luggage and our three young boys both ways. On our return he drove the brand new minibus right to the spot where the car was and helped to load the boot. Fantastic service!
As for our night in the hotel itself we had a lovely spacious room with a king size bed and a large double sofa bed for the boys. We had called in advance to see if our youngest child could stay with us as the online booking sites state max 2 adults and 2 children. We were told this was not a problem. The room had a lovely en suite with plenty of hot water, good qaulity tolietries, bathrobes; quality drinks and biccies.
We spent the evening using the lovely leisure faciltiies (the pool was a tad too cold for my liking), but the kids were ok. We chose not to eat in the hotel dining room as the children were a bit too excited!! We ate snacks of chips, burger, and garlic bread in the leisure centre bar instead, which we found much more relaxed and decent value.
Despite the overnight snow, our early morning transfer to EMA was handled brilliantly. Service with a smile from all concerned.
If you're flying out of EMA I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to you.
Now for the best bit....11 nights parking, transfers both ways, luxury family room for 2 adults and 3 children. Total Cost £71. A Bargain, booked through Undercover Hotels. At these prices this Hotel deserves to be busy.
Well done to all concerned.

Stayed here for recently for 2 night bed breakfast, one evening meal and afternoon tea package. It was brilliant value for money. Check in was pleasant and we had our rooms upgraded that was really appreciated. Rooms were very nice and modern. Only thing that lets this hotel down was the service in the dining room. It was possibly understaffed and seemed a bit of a shambles, there were several complaints from fellow diners with orders being muddled and food having to be returned, the staff appeared stressed. No steaks or lamb did not impress our party.. Things did not improve much at breakfast time, every request seemed to present a problem and the hot buffet looked congealed and unappetising . I would say looking at other reviews we were a bit unlucky and overall its a nice hotel

Room Tip: there are no nice views its situated in a residential area convenient for motorways and air ports, b...

We purchased this package (One nights stay plus 7 day carparking) via a comparison site, the cost was £75.00 we couldnt beleive our luck when we saw where we would be staying. Great welcome, freindly staff and first class service, even in the bar....second to none. It was like going back thirty years when customers came first. Excellent. The room was warm and cosy with excellent free bathroom products. It didnt end there as the run to the airport the following morning was smooth and very enjoyable, returning back to a cold wintery Britain we only had to wait less than five minutes before the Hotel's taxi came to collect us from the airport and take us to our car. On the whole it was worry free and enjoyable, so enjoyable that we have booked again for our next trip in April.

Room Tip: No tips they all appear to be good.

Once again we parked the car & flew from east midlands, & stayed at this hotel.
The transfer from hotel to airport & back again was very smooth couldn't fault it.
We thought we would have a lovely stay again, well it was until I was walking barefoot on the bedroom carpet when something stuck to my foot, it was someone else's false nail!!!!!!!!!!
I informed the desk & they just said sorry!! I informed them the morning we left as well but nothing was done just said sorry again!

On returning to the hotel after our holiday we had pre booked another nights stay thinking that this was an error & wouldn't happen again plus it was 14th Feb 12' We were wrong, this time someones hair on the bathroom floor!!!!!!!!!!!

This hotel is usually spotless don't really know what's happening at the moment, we do have one of best western groups loyalty cards which give you perks early check in, late check out, free upgrade where possible. This didn't happen either!!
Feel really upset that one of our favorite hotels in the UK seems' to be slipping with their hygiene standards.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of this hotel do seem to be the best for space, cleanliness, noise

Stayed here for two nights and booked it as the other half had stayed here for work before so he knew it was good. The hotel is very clean and the room has all the mod cons you would expect. Check in was nice and easy and staff were very helpful. The food in the restaurant is incredible!

The only thing that let down our stay was a member of staff in the Spa area. She was deliberately ignoring guests and I gave up trying to order a drink at the bar area from her but the other staff were very helpful and friendly, its a shame she let them down to be honest but its not a deal breaker! The gym is very well equipped and it has a lovely pool/sauna/steam room area.

All in all an excellent stay but I'm not giving it 5/5 because of that one member of staff at the spa who I felt let the hotel down and my conscience wouldn't let me!
