“A perfect cottage in a beautiful location”
Reviewed September 1, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We visited the Old Barn in August 2015 and had a wonderful weekend. The cottage was exactly what we were looking for, beautifully maintained, cosy, clean with a lovely outside seating area. Although the cottage is attached to the owners house you don't feel overlooked at all, we felt genuinely welcome and it was great to have someone nearby to ask things! Freshly baked cookies and wine on arrival were very much appreciated and a really lovely touch :)

We had dinner at the Bowling Green which we all enjoyed and there is a lovely village shop a few minutes walk away. We took the bus into Bakewell from outside the barn which was very easy and only took around half an hour. Overall I would strongly recommend the Old Barn for a visit to the Peak District, Sharon was a wonderful host and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

“Lovely cottage in perfect location”
Reviewed August 16, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

What a beautiful, well equipt, clean & comfortable cottage in a lovely village. Take the cars out and it is like stepping back in time here with a great village pub. The cottage is simply perfect with a much appreciated welcome package including home made cake! The whole upstairs is a georgous master bedroom & ensuite and the overall accommodation is ideal for couples and families. It is about 15 mins to Matlock, 40 to Alton Towers, 30 to Buxton and 50 to Nottingham. There is plenty to do locally including the Monsal Trail and Heights of Abraham. We can definitely recommend Peaks & Paddles for a great day of caving, abseiling & canoeing. A true Peak District gem.

“Brilliant!”
Reviewed July 30, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

The Old Barn had absolutely everything we needed and more! We stayed three nights and wished we could have stayed longer! So much to do in the surrounding area, walking, Chatsworth House etc. Sharon was an excellent host, very helpful and friendly and we really enjoyed the lovely welcome package. Thanks for an excellent stay and we hope to come back some day!

“A lovely home from home”
Reviewed July 25, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We can really recommend this rental property. It had everything we needed, including all we needed for our two toddlers. It was very comfortable and warm, and the stay was made more special by the warm welcome and attention from the owner. Unlike a previous review reported, we actually found the courtyard at the property very private indeed, with very little interruption. And the location in the village is excellent. Definitely worth a trip.

“What a fabulous place!”
Reviewed April 4, 2015 for a stay in February 2015

This is a wonderful place to stay - great accommodation with loads of equipment and based in a fantastic small village, with great pubs within walking distance. It is such a great base to explore Matlock, Matlock Bath, Bakewell and the best of what the Peak District has to offer. We cannot recommend it enough.
