Alport Height is lovely for its amazing views and for taking the kids or the dog for a run around the hill. Its National Trust but its just a picnic area really with a fair sized car park. It has big radio masts because its the highest hill for miles around. You get to it on a lane a couple of miles from Wirksworth and you need to take your own picnic on a sunny day - you can see forever - five counties apparently.
