We hadn't stayed or eaten at The Hostel for a while, I think the constant changes over the last decade had taken it's toll on the place.

The food was really good and portion sizes excellent. Staff very friendly and the room was ideal for our one night stay.

We will definitely be back again - nice not to see too many Hooray Henrys around either!

    Stayed for a long weekend with the family to celebrate my wife's birthday and had a great experience. Room was spacious for the four of us and two dogs. Breakfast was tasty and the service was excellent. Staff always helpful. A great place to stay if you are exploring north Norfolk.

    We spent the Bank Holiday weekend at the hotel.
    The reception staff were great! A nice welcome.
    We had our little dog and so booked a table ahead of our stay.
    It was Bank Holiday and so it was busy, I understand, which was a great vibe.
    The room was very nice. Dog treats and a water bowl for our dog.
    We got to our table in the restaurant and the set out and atmosphere didn’t feel like a top rated restaurant, and in fact, more like a cafe. We were served with the attitude of a school dinner lady. Please, no disrespect to dinner ladies, but we’re talking a top price hotel and restaurant here! Very mater of fact, and no warmth or friendliness, and grumpy, and ‘just get on with it’!
    I asked if the prawns were served with heads and tails. She abruptly and grumpily said, “Yes”.
    I asked if it was please possible to remove the heads and tails, to which her grumpy and abrupt response was,
    “No way. Too busy”.
    I was surprised by this unfriendly manner and careless reaction from this waitress. I ordered something else.
    The experience was awful!
    We opted for breakfast in the room both mornings as we did not want this shoddy service again.
    The second morning our breakfast arrived to our room 12 minutes late with no apology. Not the young man’s fault as he was probably just instructed to deliver it but he should have been informed that it was late. We needed to checkout to attend an appointment and so this put us back.
    £680 for 2 night B&B ?! We have stayed a couple of times but never again!
    Shame!

    Room tip: The rooms are nice. Do not build your hopes up for a good dining service!

    Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience here at The Hoste.

    Please be assured, your comments regarding the team member's attitude, and the late room service breakfast you received on your final morning with us, are not up to our usual standards. We are of course saddened that due to the unexpected service you received during dinner that you felt you would rather enjoy the breakfasts within your room itself. Although, we endeavour to deliver the room service breakfasts at the exact time our guests' have asked, this is often not possible due to demand.

    Your review is currently undergoing investigation, and the concerns you have raised will of course be addressed with the team member in question. We pride ourselves on the service we deliver, and without each team member's input, the service we deliver will not be consistent throughout. Training is of course on going with the team, and your feedback will ensure we continue to improve.

    Despite this, we are pleased that you enjoyed the very warm welcome from the reception team, the great vibe here at The Hoste, the very nice room, and the treats and items we provide for our furry friends!

    We are sorry to hear that following staying with us a couple of times, you do not wish to stay again. Should you change your mind moving forward, please do get in touch directly. We welcome the opportunity to restore your faith in The Hoste.

    Lovely hotel. V welcoming. Excellent breakfast and happy staff. Room clean with comfortable bed and clean bathroom. Managed to get one of the last parking spaces. A little noisy in the afternoon but at bedtime it had quietened down. Very welcoming to dogs which was good

    We spent a couple of nights here during a trip to see family in neighboring Suffolk and we loved our stay. It is an idyllic pub with an excellent informal restaurant and bar, with great little touches such as a characterful upstairs sitting area for residents with complimentary 24 hour coffee and tea.

    Our room (11) was OK; a lovely big bathroom with a walk in shower and claw foot freestanding bath but filling the bath was a calculated effort as the taps were so sensitive - seemed like mains pressure cold and dribbling hot so tricky to get the temperature just right, and it took ages to fill. The air conditioning wasn't working so we had a fan which didn't really do the job - we had a rather uncomfortable couple of nights, it was so hot. There is also a ridiculously small amount of drawer space for folded clothes.

    I was surprised the whole place was card only, even for a drink in the bar.

    Would we stay again? Yes we would - we loved the town and the atmosphere of the pub/restaurant but we'd research the rooms more which are certainly not cheap for the standard offered. The north Norfolk coast is stunning - remined me of north Brittany in France.

    Remember the town is like a country/coastal version of Chelsea, with a lot of upmarket shops and it's full of beautiful families with beautiful children and beautiful curly haired dogs - but well worth a visit to show just how lovely the UK is.

    Thank you for sharing your experience while staying in room 11 here at The Hoste recently.

    Regrettably, not all of our rooms currently offer air conditioning. The entire original part of the hotel is also not air conditioned due to the nature of the building. Should this be required, we ask that guests request this in advance to ensure this is met prior to arrival. In the meantime, we of course apologise for the inconvenience this caused at the time, and we welcome the opportunity to speak with you directly when next booking to discuss room options and any requests.

    With regards to our cash-less policy, this has been in place post Covid and ensures the safety and efficiency of the team.

    It is, however, wonderful to hear of your enjoyable stay - enjoying the beautiful Burnham Market itself, the complimentary teas and coffees in our residents lounge area, and the overall atmosphere here too.

    All of which, has been shared amongst the team here at The Hoste, who very much looks forward to welcoming you back again soon.

    Being my fourth visit to the hoste, Sadly, I shall never be returning.
    Me and my partner booked two nights for £500 plus £25 per night dog charge.
    Upon our arrival I tried to pay my balance for the stay in cash only to be informed. They are completely cashless now, as is the bar restaurant. Covid was mentioned, which I find absolutely ridiculous.
    My last visits cash was accepted gratefully, upon a manager being found. They apparently found a way to accept the cash and put it in an envelope but stating they had no way to bank the money.????
    Standing by my principles, I would never return to this hotel .
    Me and my partner spent no money whatsoever dining at the hotel, we chose to dine at Socius No Twenty9 The White horse And bang in wells Which were all fantastic and we’re more than happy to take cash plus the generous tips I’m always happy to leave in cash.
    It actually saddens me that bars restaurant shops etc are choosing to go this way.
    I guess it’s their choice as a business not to accept cash I Personally feel it should be against the law.
    Then we as consumers. Also have the choice to eat dine and sleep elsewhere.
    I have to also state there was no pre-warning before booking that this was a cashless establishment

    Thank you for sharing with us all your personal experience of The Hoste and our beautiful surrounding area too.

    We are sorry that due to our cash-less policy you reverted to dining elsewhere, although managing to enjoy some alternative local establishments.

    Our cash-less policy is on our room confirmations and menus for our guests to view. This ensures the safety for the entire team and efficiency throughout. This has been in place post Covid (around 4.5 years), and there are not currently plans to change this policy.

    We are, once again, sorry for the inconvenience this caused at the time, and we are extremely saddened to hear that, due to this policy, you will not be returning in the near future.

    Should you change your mind, we welcome the opportunity to speak with you directly and to restore your faith in The Hoste.
