Stayed for 2 nights at the end of September on a Groupon deal. Have stayed here before and back in October. Absolute bargain. Kimberley and the rest of the staff are terrific - always helpful, friendly and polite. Enjoyed the food, especially breakfasts before exploring North Yorkshire. The deal was a steal - so well worth another visit.

Hi we stayed here for 3 nights and have had for the money a very comfortable relaxing break. Kimberley the receptionist/bar tender/waitress/porter and more was very helpful and always busy tending to people's needs a real asset to the hotel.we ate here on all 3 nights and finished everything again for the money it was more than acceptable. Our room was a little bit tired but by all accounts the rooms are being refurbished. Breakfast was included and nice and hot. Thankyou

My wife and myself stayed here two nights 25th and 26th Sept. on a Groupon deal. The welcome from the young lady on reception was what you would expect from any hotel reception, friendly and welcoming, thank you Kimberly. As they say, first impressions count, in this case it was true. From what we saw, she holds the place together, without showing any stress, even if she was, a great credit and ambassador to the Hotel. We were allocated a refurbished room, no.12, which had all we needed and a decent size, plus a fabulous view over that beautiful countryside.
The Groupon menu offer is a bit limited, but the fish and chips were perfect, however, the Wednesday morning breakfast (for myself) was a disappointment, the oil or whatever the hash browns, bacon and sausages were fried in was way past its best resulting in those items being left on the plate. Next morning's breakfast was back on track though. Quite a well stocked bar and VERY reasonable prices on the draught beers, which we made enjoyable use of in the comfortable lounge.
Yes, we would stay here again if room no.12 could be reserved, and, once again, Thank you Kimberly just for being you, Malcolm and Pat.

Room Tip: Rooms at rear have less road noise.

Went here on a Groupon voucher this week and enjoyed every minute. I just loved the way the breakfast was served, buffet style, in other words, help yourself to a variety of hot dishes, if you wanted fried or poached eggs, they were cooked to order. The selection was amazing. We had evening meals on two nights and they were delicious too, the fish and chips were especially memorable. My only gripe would be that the staff are overworked but very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Kimberly seemed to be the main one, always there and always ready to help. I just hope the management appreciate her. The room was very tired and in need of updating but adequate and suppose it was a 'Groupon' room. I really can't complain with the price we paid.

Unfortunately, this place is let down by poor management and understaffing. My family and I went for a meal there this evening and were disappointed. The food took over an hour and a half to arrive despite there only being around another 10 guests eating. When the order arrived there were elements that were wrong. Some of the food was of pretty poor quality (although some wasn't bad in fairness).

Everyone in the resteraunt was complaining and we actually felt sorry for the girl who was trying to run everything - and when I say everything I mean the bar, waiting tables, answering the phone, front desk / reception and according to some guests who were staying there she was cleaning rooms earlier in the day as well.

There was no manager on site either to make a complaint to.

When we left, we even had to ask them to turn the outside lights on as it was pitch black and there are a couple of steps into the car park!

Avoid for now and hope for new management before you give this place a go.
