Me and my partner are walking the cleveland way so on Sunday we decided to go from Sutton bank to Rievo Abbey because months ago we walked from Helmsley to Rievo. Arriving at Sutton bank national park I was amazed how many people were around even a private bus turned up with walkers onboard. You could hire and buy bikes, toilet facilities, shop, and a cafe. We did our walk and when we got back we did the little stretch to the White horse. Finally finnishing our walk for the day we went into the cafe we ordered a sausage/egg bun and soup lovely it just FINNISHED DAY OFF NICELY.

Once upon a time the Park centre was just an after thought to the views all around it . But after changes over the years the centre has become a must call in site before you start any the short or long walks that look across the Vale of York one side to the Moors on the other. The Cycling aspect has brought new challenges and seems to cope with the amount of visitors looking to cycle the new routes dotted around the centre. The routes like the walking routes for all ages and ability. The café makes a good refuge for those just watching everyone else be busy or to get a hot or co cold drink and snack depending on the weather or how far you've walked.

My husband and I had an extremely rare day out without our children and had a lovely walk along sutton bank; the views are stunning. It was a lovely surprise to find the visitors centre - a very well stocked gift shop with unique and interesting items, a great looking cafe (we didn't eat as had already had lunch) and information area with lots of child-friendly activities. We will definitely be going back with the children as the walk is level and easy, but not least for some Christmas shopping in the fantastic gift shop!

On holiday staying in thirsk, so a short drive up to Sutton bank was a must, stayed most of the afternoon, walked one way from the visitor centre by the Yorkshire glider club, the runway is right next to the path, great views, then back tracked and walked the other way, get a view of a reservoir what you don't see in the car. Plenty of benches for a rest and to enjoy the view. There is a cafe there but we didn't use, a shop and information about the land and wildlife. Well with a visit. Pay parking £2.50 for 2 hours or £4.50 for all day.

We struck lucky and visited Sutton Bank on a quiet day (the main road was closed for repairs) - we virtually had the place to ourselves and had a fantastic time wandering around the ridge before buying some lovely goodies in the gift shop
