Reluctantly visited for lunch today. I say reluctantly because for many years this place was more an overpriced kiosk with bad food and service. I was pleasantly surprised to see the previous owners of the Farmers Arms Hotel at the helm. The ladies have certainly raised the bar on the quality of food and service. Sat with my dog in a lovely shared garden area with views to the lake. Amazing Fish and Chips with the best homemade tartar sauce and a glass of wine. Excellent service, huge portion and reasonably priced for quality food. So pleased to see this venue utilised as a premium restaurant, rather than a tourist cash cow. Many people arriving just wanting coffee or bottled water. If your after just coffee or drink see Andrew at the Book Barn across the car park and allow dinners to enjoy good quality food and service without the cafe heckle. Looking forward to trying breakfast. Congratulations to everyone at the Boathouse for their outstanding work!

The Boathouse restaurant never disappoints ... the food and service are consistently top notch, the prices reasonable and the staff always friendly no matter how busy and run off their feet.

The setting on the lake is second to none.

And it's open 7 days a week!!!!

Thanks, ladies, keep doing what you're doing.

Visited here on Easter Sunday with my sister who is a local, what surprise after nearly 40 years visiting Daylesford this was our first visit to the Boathouse.
Pork terrine, fish and chips and spicy mussels every thing was very good, beer nice and cold.
Shame European wasps in great numbers throughout the area doesn’t allow you to eat outdoors any longer.
But don’t let that stop you from going here meals are great.
We will return.

The staff were prompt and friendly and even though it was very busy we were well looked after. We ordered the Souvlaki and it came out in 15 minutes if that. It was one of the best Souvlakis I've ever eaten. Slightly pricey but it was worth it

Visited for a late lunch on Easter Sunday. Despite lots of people out enjoying the lake and surrounds, the Boathouse was not too busy. So service was quick and responsive. We enjoyed the fish and chips and calamari. The starter bread with balsamic was also yummy. My only criticism would be the limited dessert menu, we passed on dessert because of this.
