We recently booked the shark diving day tour as a kind of birthday present for myself.
It is a 630am start and we didn’t get back till 7pm so it is a long day, be prepared! It was so worth it to see the sharks!
It takes 3 hours to get to Neptune islands but breakfast and nibbles are provided along the way. The crew are super knowledgeable and friendly.
The hostess, Jacinta was so helpful when a few of us got a bit sick, even disposing of our bags and grabbing us water to help.
Lunch was provided also and was cold meats, chicken and a variety of salads.
All groups were able to do a practice dive while we were waiting for the sharks. This was really useful as it can be quite overwhelming jumping into the cage while focusing on only breathing through your mouth. The cage does move around quite a bit with the waves and current so it was important to hang onto the railings inside the cage.
After a few more hours of waiting we finally had a shark appear around 2pm and then a few more, so there was a focus for each group to get some time in the cage at least once. The view from top deck was also great for viewing and pictures.
All in all it was a great experience and one I’m defiantly glad I’ve been able to do!

Hello Emily,

What a great birthday present to give yourself! We are so happy you saw a shark and had a great day.

As we are dealing with a wild animal in its natural environment we can never guarantee sightings or the time they do arrive but we stay there as long as possible to give it our best shot!

Thank you for your kind words regarding the food on the day and our staff. Our crew are there to make the day the most comfortable on the day and to help the many first time divers we have on board.

We are thankful for this wonderful review and thank you for choosing to come on board with us!

What a great day ! After traveling a long way to beautiful Port Lincoln, there was always the risk that we wouldn’t see any sharks - but we weren’t disappointed ! Great shark viewing and tour organized REALLY well. Plenty of food throughout the day and a friendly, knowledgeable crew make this a unique experience - highly recommended !

Hi Jenni,

So glad you saw a shark! At times of low sightings we do keep all our guests personally updated with the activity as it is very important to us to be completely open and honest regarding the current activity. At all times we are transparent with our sightings with them displayed on our website for every trip since January 2011.

Our crew do strive to not only provide an exciting day but also share their knowledge and educate our guests. We love to chat and are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Thank you for highly recommending us to others we really appreciate it!

An exciting cruise out to the Neptune Islands to go shark diving. It’s a great day to enjoy the ocean at Pt Lincoln and get to know some new people.. Nice homely atmosphere with friendly staff and more than enough food to keep you satisfied.
Seating is basic but ok and don’t expect resturant quality food, but you are there to see the sharks so it’s good enough. The equipment is good, wetsuits, boots and mask suitable. The cage felt safe and air to breath while under water was easy to use.
We saw sharks and were very happy. They sent a few emails to remind us that nature is unpredictable and sightings are not 100% guaranteed so it was a bonus to see 3 sharks when season was low..
Overall a great experience, perfect birthday present for a teenager! We’ll definitely go again in the “high” season.

This is my second time to Port Lincoln and its not only because it is a beautiful place but because its the only place in Australia you can swim with Great White Sharks. The crew are absolutely amazing on the trip and sometimes it feels that there fattening us up to feed to the sharks because the food just keeps coming all day and it's so delicious. You can not fault Calypso Star because they are just the best at what they do. Not only was the trip fantastic but so was the accommodation, Debi and Robert at the Yha are the kindest most welcoming people and you will certainly feel like one of the family. Debi can help you with anything and tell you all the places you must go and see and it is by far the nicest Yha I have ever stayed in. In fact its more like a hotel with not only shared dorms but double rooms, BBQ area, amazing Kitchen, TV lounge and movie room upstairs. Port Lincoln is definitely a place everyone should visit and the Yha is by far the best place to stay.
Thank you so much guys
Tori :)
