The convenience of a drive through "carry-out" window made the dash back home more appealing allowing enjoyment of the very ample, tummy filling pizza. Centerville is a new location in a highly competitive pizza market. While the product is respectable the price point is too high. When presenting a coupon, taken from the Godfather's website, it was refused! Too bad....the $2 discount may have been a cheap investment by the restaurant in insuring our return patronage.

We are briefly watching Adam (Man v. Food.)

Adam is in Chicago, and apparently has never encountered Chicago Pizza.

Recently, Firemen from New York preferred New York style pizza. Fireman from Chicago preferred Chicago Pizza, and Firemen from Los Angeles were mixed in their preference.

Nearly 40 years ago, we had our first Chicago Pizza, and in our view, all other pizza are "wimpy versions of the real deal."

We were sorry to see Pizza Uno depart from Centerville, and Pizza Uno in Dayton is great. We always visit Pizza Uno when skiing WISP in Maryland.

So, I ask the server at Godfather's if Godfather's Grand Supreme is Chicago? The server remarks something about "legally we cannot call it Chicago." OK, but Godfather's is close to a Chicago Pizza for someone from Dayton; a Chicagoan may disagree.

This is a pricey pizza, but one can't fold it. And two slices is a full dinner.

Let's observe that Godfather's beats the local and national chains hand down.

In our view, order to go, and use the pick-up window. Google Godfather's for the phone, and for the menu.

Haven't eaten Godfather's Pizza in years, and boy do I miss it. Recently found one near where my Dad lives, and it was everything I remember. Great sauce, tons of toppings, and if you can eat more than 2 or 3 slices you've accomplished something. Gonna be on my list of things to hit every time I go to OH to see my Dad.

Godfather’s Pizza is located at 5800 Wilmington Pike in Centerville (937.433.7777.)
Godfather’s Pizza is located in a small strip center on the east side of Wilmington Pike just south of Feedwire or Whipp.

Godfather’s Pizza is a franchise of a large corporation. This location is a near a busy intersection, and there is a separate entrance to ensure safe parking.

We like the franchise, and the web site is quite professional. The menu is descriptive, and include accurate jpgs of the food products. This location is very clean, air conditioned, and busy with drive through and phone orders.

The three “kids” appear well trained, but oblivious as we enter the storefront. This provides time to observe a large TV, and very unwelcome table signs. Tables are limited, and we view this location as a carry out rather than “eat-in” pizza establishment. There is zero ambience, and we cannot imagine any locals actually taking a table. Perhaps a family taking a break from I-675 might eat in, and perhaps the young might gather for a date, but this is not a location for a date night with your wife.

There is a limited beer selection, and we surmise that most business is carry out.

The pizza: we elect the original thick crust and order the “jumbo” 18” carry out . The franchise has got the sauce and crust right. The only “exotic” toping is anchovies, and the rest of the topping are predictable. Now for the neat part: There is a photographic and descriptive section “Our Specialties,” and “Our Super Specialties.”

We like this, and we select the Classic Combo: The Classic Combo is what Godfather's Pizza is all about. This pizza is piled high with all the goods: pepperoni, sausage, beef, onions, black olives, mushrooms, and mozzarella cheese.

This is not your $9.99 “special that has the toping smeared on a crust with a three inch border of cardboard crust. This is a $27.00 pizza that is so thick, I am reminded of a Chicago pizza. The crust has a narrow lip to retain the ingredients.

The pizza people know that “you get what you pay for.” And for over a year, I have asked various pizza workers from other companies “If you were not eating your own product, what would you order?” The answer is always Godfather’s.

Godfather’s does limited advertising, never offers special coupons, except for the website, and the website specifies that coupons and specials does not apply to the Ohio market.

We often will go for months without a pizza, and within the past several weeks, we have experimented. My 100% Italian wife’s eyes grew huge as she savored the first taste, and she concluded this is the best pizza. Guess that were are sold. And three-fourths of the pizza remains in the fridge.
