After having blessed by Lord Jagannath Temple, we also visited Vimala Devi Temple in side main complex and just behind main shrine. Vimala Devi Temple is one of 4 Aadi Shakti and one of 51 Shakti Peeth, dedicated to Goddess Vimala, incarnation of Goddess Parvati. . Devotees pay respect to Vimala before worshipping Jagannath in the main temple. Food offered to Jagannath does not get sanctified as Mahaprasad until it is also offered to Vimala. Do not forget to visit this holy shrine when you are at Jagannath Temple, Puri.

Myself along with my parents got to visit Vimala temple located inside Puri Jagannath temple complex during Dec'17.

Vimala temple is regarded as a Sakthi Pith, One of the holiest temple dedicated to Hindu Goddess. Though it was a small shrine inside temple complex, the Vimala temple is important to the Goddess-oriented Shakti and Tantric worshippers, who revere it even more than the main Jagannath shrine. We have offered our poojas and had great dharshan at the temple.

The VIMALA / BIMALA Temple is located within the Jagannath Temple complex. Though it is a small shrine it is recognized as one among the four major Shakti Peethas (pada khanda). Vimala Devi is considered to be the tantric consort of Jagannath and a guardian of the Temple Complex. Devotees pay respect to Vimala before worshipping Jagannath. Women are not permitted into the Temple; instead asked to have darshan from little away.
The food offerings to Jagannath are offered to Vimala after which they are sanctified as Maha Prasada. Non vegetarian food viz fish is offered to Vimaladevi on Durga ashtami / Navami days. This deity is very important to tantric worshippers.
There is yet another Vimala Devi Temple in Sankara Mutt, Puri and all including women are allowed to worship.

Ask any pious Hindu about number of Sati Pithas and answer will be 51. It is very true in today's perspective. But in ancient time as per Shiva Purana and Skandha Purana there were four(4) Satipithas. Kalighat(West Bengal), Kamakshya(Assam), Tara Tarini & Vimala(Odissa). So when we visit temple of Lord Jagannatha hardly we remember there is Vimala temple which is as pious as the temple of Lord Jagannatha. So it is an appeal to the general Hindu pilgrims that they must visit Vimala temple inside Jaganatha temple complex.
