Arrived 18.30 to find the kitchen closed, booked in to be told bar was closing at 9pm. The 1st room was smelling like a chipshop, 2nd room was OK bed was poor and uncomfortable. Total waste if my time and money, strangely they wanted a review which i did but it never appeared so wouldn't trust them or what the reviews say on the lawns site. I have had no apology or even refund

Booked a table for 2 for dinner. Food & service exceptional. King prawns to start & beef brisket. Both absolutely delicious. Service amazing. Just such a lovely warm feeling about the place. Background music good too! It was busy but not overly so.
Perfect hotel choice for a wedding at nearby Voewood. Based in the centre of Holt - free car parking. Very friendly welcome from Mitch. Room was clean and tidy and very warm. Nice and quiet during the night. Really nice breakfast served between 8-10am. Good price for an excellent location.

Food is amazing and the rooms where extremely comfortable equipped with everything we needed even a jug of fresh milk put in the fridge daily,

I was lucky enough to be taken out for an early Christmas surprise November 11th by my wonderful partner. She gave no clues as to where I was being taken but it was the Thursford Christmas spectacular and spectacular it was in every sense. I will review that next but we stayed at the Lawns Hotel.
Upon arrival we found the car park and road with no spaces to park. Sadly this was due to a wake. So I jumped out the car to ask the anyone inside if we could park anywhere else. I spoke to what turned out to be the manager. He promptly greeted me with a smile introducing himself as Mitch. Within a split second he offered to move his own car out of the car park so that my partner could park hers. Once inside he took our bags to the room. It was spacious, clean and very comfortable with a bed you could fall to sleep within seconds. The bathroom was well appointed and an excellent shower. I'm pretty sure that water softening was apparent though.
The evening meal was served in good time but was apparent cooked to order and exactly. We asked for two medium steaks and they were cooked to perfection and nothing was to much trouble. The meal itself was five star as well as the attention and service. The dining area was atmospherically warm and welcoming.
A great nights sleep followed by a breakfast fit for a king, again with whatever your hearts desire. I requested a large tomato juice and a very large one was presented with ice. the food was of quality. Not cheap sausages or eggs but quality. It was served piping hot with whatever side orders you would like, again, nothing was any trouble. Mitch and his wife only became managers at the Lawns a couple of months ago and after a catastrophically bad time for this industry it's been hard but let me tell you, these people are professional and extremely pleasant. Great all round experience and we shall have no hesitation whatsoever in staying there again. If I could give the Lawns ten stars I would but Tripadvisor only awards five maximum so a very well deserved five stars it is. Everyone we spoke to at the hotel all agreed on what a gem of a hotel this is. We went whilst it was cold and damp but trust me whether it be cold, wet or warm and sunny, we will be back.
