Wonderful!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 6, 2024
My husband, son and I had a wonderful week-long stay here, along with my parents-in-law. We all had a thoroughly relaxing holiday. The hotel is in a beautiful setting, only a short walk to a gorgeous beach. The hotel buildings, rooms and courtyards are lovely, as is the decor. We enjoyed all our meals at the hotel, and gradually made our way through the menu during the week! The staff at the hotel were more than happy to cater for my son who has a milk allergy. In fact all of the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. They are a real credit to the business. We have family who live nearby (many who joined us for a lovely afternoon tea at the hotel), so we definitely look forward to staying at Caley Hall next time we visit the area.

We planned a short get away and my husband found this hotel. I had no idea where we were going or what to expect but I was very pleasantly surprised. The exterior has a lovely seating area with attractive hanging baskets.
The hotel has more rooms than you realise but it still has a small and friendly feel.
On our arrival we were greeted by a friendly member of staff who made sure our cyles were locked away safe and sound for the night.
The reception staff were also friendly and gave us directions to our room. The room was situated to the back with pretty flower beds and even had sun beds. The room had a large double bed, duvet and fluffy pillows. A well equipped shower room with both overhead rain head and smaller shower.Lovely white fluffy towels and even had a good selection of toiletries. I was very grateful to also find a good hair dryer supplied.
We decided to give the resturant a try in the evening and booked before going for a cliff top walk. The resturant staff were well presented, friendly and very attentive. After cycling to our destination travelling light we felt a bit under dressed! The food was well presented and of a high standard. There was a good wine selection and our food was absolutely delicious. Our only disappointment that the special Hokham Steak had run out - Next time!!
We finished our evening off with a gin and tonic in the bar which was well stocked, again with very friendly staff and comfortable seating.
Our only gripe is that the duvet was extremely hot even with the supplied fan on. I'd have much preferred the choice of just a sheet but one wasn't supplied. With hindesight we should have just taken the duvet out and used the cover only.
The following morning we were again seated in the resturant with the same staff from the evening before. This team need a special mention they really are attentive and treat guests like old friends. Breakfast was again of a high standard with choices to suit everyone whatever your taste. Museli and juice or full English and coffee or something inbetween.
The hotel we found on chatting to the keeper of our bikes is family run by people who care about their guests. Something which shines through! He even gave us a weather forecast before we left on our travels. Sadly he was right!

The room was not as expected, although supposed to be "Superior" it did not have 2 chairs, as shown in the photo. This was important to me as I'm not comfortable sitting on the bed. The room was an attic room with steep stairs within the room itself, tight against the door, very tricky to manoeuvre. No help was offered. After the long walk to the room we were too weary to return to reception and complain.
We were glad we only booked one night, to see if we liked this hotel.

Room tip: Check if its a long walk to the room and ask for help if you need it.

Thank you for your review, both here and other review sites. As mentioned on one of the other sites. I really am sorry that the stay was not to your satisfaction. Had you spoken to us, the staff here would have done everything in their power to help find a solution to your issues, from luggage assistance to potential room moves. It is a frustrating read, as I know we could haev helped you had you mentioned anything at all on check in, or at any point during your stay.

Thank you for your visit, and I do hope you consider visiting again, and thank you for your review

Had a one night stay here and we absolutely loved it, the room was gorgeous and spacious, had a really lovely meal in the evening, and the breakfast was amazing - the best actually. All staff were brilliant especially Maria, she was a gem.
Extremely dog friendly, loved the courtyard in the evening for a drink, really nice relaxing atmosphere in the bar. Excellent location to Old Hunstanton beach too. Will definitely be going back.

Very nice hotel let down by few room issues. One reoccuring problems seems to be very soft pillows/mattress,had two very poor nights sleep. Food was fine except for the chocolate mousse wich was served warm? Nice courtyard to have a drink before dinner. Good access to disabled parking. All staff very friendly and helpful,a credit to the hotel. All public areas very clean.

We had a really lovely 3 night stay, location near to the beach and local tourist attractions. Staff were very welcoming and my gluten free intolerance was very well catered for.
The small room was adequate but the pillows were too soft and very uncomfortable. We were quite surprised that the room did not have any usb charging points in the room. Fortunately the reception staff did have a charger available.
On the whole though a very pleasant stay.
