We planned a short get away and my husband found this hotel. I had no idea where we were going or what to expect but I was very pleasantly surprised. The exterior has a lovely seating area with attractive hanging baskets.
The hotel has more rooms than you realise but it still has a small and friendly feel.
On our arrival we were greeted by a friendly member of staff who made sure our cyles were locked away safe and sound for the night.
The reception staff were also friendly and gave us directions to our room. The room was situated to the back with pretty flower beds and even had sun beds. The room had a large double bed, duvet and fluffy pillows. A well equipped shower room with both overhead rain head and smaller shower.Lovely white fluffy towels and even had a good selection of toiletries. I was very grateful to also find a good hair dryer supplied.
We decided to give the resturant a try in the evening and booked before going for a cliff top walk. The resturant staff were well presented, friendly and very attentive. After cycling to our destination travelling light we felt a bit under dressed! The food was well presented and of a high standard. There was a good wine selection and our food was absolutely delicious. Our only disappointment that the special Hokham Steak had run out - Next time!!
We finished our evening off with a gin and tonic in the bar which was well stocked, again with very friendly staff and comfortable seating.
Our only gripe is that the duvet was extremely hot even with the supplied fan on. I'd have much preferred the choice of just a sheet but one wasn't supplied. With hindesight we should have just taken the duvet out and used the cover only.
The following morning we were again seated in the resturant with the same staff from the evening before. This team need a special mention they really are attentive and treat guests like old friends. Breakfast was again of a high standard with choices to suit everyone whatever your taste. Museli and juice or full English and coffee or something inbetween.
The hotel we found on chatting to the keeper of our bikes is family run by people who care about their guests. Something which shines through! He even gave us a weather forecast before we left on our travels. Sadly he was right!
