We are pretty local and had tried out the pub (this is not a review on the hotel) when it had first been taken over a year or two before. It seemed to have potential.
The menu is fairly simple in that there is a wide choice of cold plates, ploughmans and sandwiches. The cooked side looks very good too. We put our order in for a ploughmans and a sandwich. I have to add that the pub / restaurant was not busy, probably about 4 tables including us. So, we waited, and waited, and waited, and waited. I could see the girl making 3 ploughmans but there was no hurry at all. She chatted to her friend sitting at the bar whilst casually preparing food. It took an hour!!! We were very close to walking out, and I had just gone up to the bar to find out what the problem was, when the food turned up. Chips with my sandwich were burnt and soggy! How does that work!? Maybe over cooked, then left on the side for half an hour ( waiting for the ploughmans) and then stuck in a microwave to warm them through? Maybe I'm over thinking. Anyway, we're local, lots of good pubs in this area, won't be going back.
