Stayed for one night in May at this great little site. Took the wife and dog who loved it and want to come again. Especially enjoyed the walk through the woods to the Corner Inn for a couple of pints then back to the Red Shoot pub for dinner. Excellent on site facilities.

Hi Nick, thanks for taking the time to review your stay with us. Very glad you, your wife and the dog enjoyed yourselves. We're so lucky to have such good pubs within walking distance of us - The High Corner Inn and The Alice Lisle have been listed in the Bournemouth Echo's list - 13 of the best Beer gardens in Dorset and the New Forest - check out the list on our facebook page! Look forward to welcoming you again soon - Jaqui.

All staff were friendly and polite. Our pitch was clean and tidy. All pitches are on grass. Heated floors in the showers block. Plenty of toilets and showers. Bit of a potch washing hair as the shower isn't on for long. You can walk straight onto the forest and there is good cycling. Dogs are welcome. Certainly a 5 star location. There is no phone, internet or TV signal though so if that is important then you will have to drive around!

Room tip: Bring your room with you!

Thanks for taking the time to post your review. I was delighted that you enjoyed your stay. I know that the push button system in the showers can be a bit tiresome but it's all part of our attempts to reduce water usage, glad it didn't detract from your enjoyment though!

Informative, helpful friendly staff.
Soft grassy pitches on well kept, neat site
Lovely little children's play area
Grassed area in middle of camping left free for playing too
Excellent shop where you can buy anything really as well as freshly baked goodies
Bathrooms and sink areas clean, warm and well set out
Walk out of the gate, past pub and you're onto the fantastic New Forest
Cattle grid so you can be close to animals but know they're at arms length
Dog friendly
Other campers pleasant enough and I didn't hear any quibbles at all from anyone!
Perfect spot for taking in scenery and walking

A good campsite, you can get the tent pegs in the ground, there is a good shop the pitches are a good size and the toilet block kept clean. A beautiful site to wake up at with the frost glistening outside.

Downsides are:

1) After you book and pay they tell you they may fine you if you turn up after 7pm - this was impossible for us as I have to work until 5.30pm and the site fee is non refundable. So do you sacrifice one night's site fee and go the next day or do you get there at 7.30pm and risk being fined.

2) Lack of football area for the kids - there was a large party booked on the site, and since there was nobody on the two pitches next door to us, they played football there until they dented our car.

3) The pub next door sometimes plays loud thudding music.

We would go again, but wouldn't book for a Friday night as getting there for 7pm is not possible for us, I would also be careful to avoid times when the pub is having a festival as the noise may get excessive.

Hi Philippa, thank you for your review, glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Just to address the couple of points you raise:

1) The late arrival charge is only ever used for those people who arrive late with no prior arrangement or notice which, to be honest, is very rare. Late arrivals can disturb other campers and also means that we have to keep a member of staff on duty after the reception is closed, often not knowing whether the arrival is actually coming or not. Of course we fully understand that many people leave for a weekend away after work or have unforeseen problems that may hold them up. We just ask that we are kept in the loop and are more than happy to negotiate a slightly later arrival time than 7pm.
2) As you will know, we are a small site and unfortunately don't have space for an official football area. We always try to keep quite a large space clear in our middle field for games and I thoroughly enjoyed watching games of rounders, cricket, football and frisby being played on the last Bank Holiday weekend with no disruption to other campers. I would suggest that if this happens again, you inform a member of staff at the time and we can offer children an alternative space in which to play.
3) The Red Shoot Inn (not part of our own business) is a well known venue for Sunday night live music and Beer Festivals three times a year. We have many visitors who come specifically for that reason. We always try to forewarn our customers at the time of booking if there is a Beer Festival planned and I can only apologise if this was not the case for you.

Lovely site, friendly staff, good shower block and world's best camping shop! You can buy a meal, fresh pastries for breakfast- and even ear plugs (snoring husband).
Site well maintained but not too regimented.
Excellent location, great walks. Beautiful.

Many thanks for your great review. I was especially pleased that you like our shop, we try very hard to stock everything that our customers could need on their camping holiday and I'm glad you were able purchase ear plugs and hopefully, have a peaceful night's sleep!
