This is a lovely location and pub and we have visited this for the last 3 years .However, this year was a disappointment to previous visits for several reasons. I understand there has been changes of the management of this pub this year and the current managers are somewhat lacking in customer service .When we have stayed before at red shoot, the manager and staff took time to acknowledge our presence and were very chatty and friendly .Now there is no customer interaction at all and the manager does not provide a welcome to visitors at all. They had a beer festival on whilst we were there which consisted of a few barrels of beers that you can get anywhere {such as doom bar } most of which were flat .Live music was promised for the festival but that did not seem to happen. The new manager no longer has live music on a Sunday evening either .Also, as the world cup was one ,I would have expected the pub to promote watching as they had a captive audience with the campsite. I was told that only England games would be shown and that was with much reluctance it appears as whenever we or anyone asked whether the game was going to be on, the staff reply was maybe or don't know ! Every other pub I know cashed in on the world cup and provided customers with some freebies at half time but the manager clearly did not want to bother .It is a real shame as the location is fantastic but we do feel the management could put much more effort into customer service.

We went there with four persons and had different sandwiches which were all really great. The service staff were really friendly.

Last year we‘ve also been there and made the same experience, good that it is still so good.

I know the Red Shoot well, living locally and having been a regular visitor for over 20 years. The Red Shoot has always had a fantastic reputation for live bands which used to play every Sunday evening throughout the year and which attracted a lot of people. Despite its remote location Sunday evenings the pub was packed. There have been several changes in managers recently and consistency has been lost which has had an impact on attendance.

I have now heard that there will no longer be live music on a Sunday except at bank holidays and beer festivals - such a shame for local musicians and for all of us who remember what a fabulous place this could be on a Sunday evening. Only a handful of people were there last night - so sad ....

We had been looking forward to the beer festival since our visit to red shoot camping in September 2017

We arrived at the neighbouring campsite after work on the Friday (day 1 of festival) and waited for the festival to begin. Well, it was a long wait as the festival consisted of a stack of beer barrels inside the pub. Eventually the live music was provided by a man who happened to have a guitar and a few of the customers

On Saturday we went to the pub again for lunch and hoping for some music and entertainment. Silence ........ We found out that the Friday band had cancelled. But what about the Saturday festival. There wasn't even any "normal" music being played. We decided to go back to the campsite and make our own lunch.

In the evening we heard a small hint of festival music and went back to the pub. There was a duo in the pub but you could only hear them if you could get a seat inside or through one of the nearby open windows

Sunday lunch was again a silent affair with entertainment provided by a mistle thrush

I am sorry to have to write this forlorn review, but there really there was no festival, just some barrels of beer.

So pleased to find such a dog friendly, family friendly place, with such a good beer garden. Good menu and locally brewed beers. We all really enjoyed the food, although the burger was a touch on the dry side. Very friendly staff.
